Club Report: The Incredibles SuperDanceParty (Magic Kingdom)

Apparently it's been a few years since I visited the Magic Kingdom because the last time I was here they were still running Stitch's Club 626 Dance Party.  But times have evolved and now the stage near the WEDWay PeopleMover is home to The Incredibles SuperDanceParty!

I didn't recognize the DJ and the ground staff said they just call him DJ Blackflip because he does them during the show which runs for 5 hours without a break!  But the show does eventually repeat itself under the theory that the evening's audience is constantly changing.

This is a "kids" dance party but guys, there are plenty of nice reasons to check it out!

Music is Top 40 & Line Dances.

Themed for The Incredibles, of course.

You'll want to check it out because let me assure you, a good time is had by all!

PI Update: What's New On The Island?

Let's cross this bridge one more time to beautiful Pleasure Island and check out what's going on!
Still don't know what this building once identified as Walt's or Walt's Place is going to be. We've previously posted roof pictures that would make one think that the interior could have some type of performance arena beneath it but this view taken yesterday shows a lot of interior pillars and structure so it's hard to say.  Our Island sources aren't saying either.
Front view of The Edison Orlando where construction continues to chug along.
Down beneath West End Plaza, the mysterious Neverland Tunnels project.
Another viewpoint.
No customers inside Erwin Pearl Jewelry, located at the Hub where PI Live Bar used to stand.. You know the Blog has previously predicted that this store would be the first of all the new post-PI shops to close. And Blog reader DJMadManRay sent me a link to a MiceChat article from noted columnist Kevin Yee in which he too predicts the same. Link.  Of course I don't think Disney is going to let it close anytime soon, even if they give it free rent.  But some day the Mouse will simply say it was a "pop-up store" that was never designed to be permanent.
Over at Waterview Stage, the concrete performance stage area has had pink carpet installed on it and these signs are posted for the "Nutcracker Sweet" by MAC Land of Dolls ballet-based shows will take place regularly here for a limited time with MAC Cosmetic samplings.
Christmas decorations are up!  Christmas music is playing!  Come on out and see it all for yourself!

Club Report: Atlantic Dance Hall

Overdue for a visit to Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney's Boardwalk Resort!
DJ Luis in the booth playing mostly Top 40 videos plus some Line Dances!
Typically feast or famine as far as crowd size goes here, I had been told that ADH had been drawing some good crowds of late.
And it was actually pretty jammed last night!
Spotted: Pleasure Island in the house with Mers (Mannequins), Dawn (8TRAX) & Alex (Motion).
Spotted on the dance floor: Nicole & Kristy
Cupid Shuffle! So here's what we heard as followup to our PI @ ADH rumor: Beginning December 1st, Tuesdays at ADH will 90's, Wednesdays will be 2000's & Thursdays will be EDM!  No PI theme, apparently, but more focused music.
At Atlantic Dance Hall last night, a good time was had by all!

Dan & Allie's Rehearsal Dinner (Del Frisco's)

Attending Dan & Allie's rehearsal dinner at Del Frisco's on International Drive, the event that could have taken place at Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs except their banquet staff never called back!
Our waitress staff delivered great service!
Big crowd on hand for the festivities!
And a good time was had by all!

Club Report: An Tobar (Maitland)

Like Raglan Road in Disney Springs, the front facade of An Tobar Irish Pub at the Sheraton Orlando North hotel in Maitland was actually imported from Ireland!
As was the bar and shelves!
Celebrating a couple birthdays with friends & coworkers last night.
No music on Thursday night but the blackboard says DJ Hem is playing Friday night! Don't know though if he's playing Top 40 or Gaelic!
And while the ladies argued over being charged over $20 / glass for wine, a good time was had by all!

PI Update: Edison Progress

Although I've seen comments that work on converting Adventurers Club into The Edison is creeping along, every time I'm out there I witness progress compared to my prior visit.
The interior has been gutted and pretty much the entire exterior too.
About the only remaining parts of AC being reused is the club's former exoskeleton, or exterior framework.
When you walk into Morimoto you can see and feel the essence of Mannequins. Not so sure that will be the case when you walk into The Edison.

This Weekend In Techno Town

THURSDAY NOV 17
Thought I had seen them at EDC - Chicago in 2013 but it turns out that was Rebecca & Fiona (S).  Guess I've never seen DJ duo Nervo (AUS) before but they're playing tomorrow night at Gilt Nightclub. EDM.
Competing with the Nervo sisters Thursday night is the harder sound of Giraffage (USA) at Venue 578. Trap / Indie Dance.
FRIDAY NOV 18
Attic Nightclub continues to bring in rising names in the business and this Friday night they have Baltimore-based DJ Gazzo (USA).  Progressive House / Electrohouse.
You can always hear some deep stuff over at Sandwich Bar and this Friday night they've got Sankeys - Ibiza resident DJ Alice Clark (E).  House / Tech House / Electronica.
Another Friday night option for House fans is DJ Sutton (USA) appearing at Peek Downtown along with the return of Low End Theory who we saw there last Saturday night.  House.
SATURDAY NOV 19
Gotta have some Breaks and the place for that is Peek Downtown this Saturday night where the lineup includes Rich Doss, Andrez & more!   Breaks.

The return to Tampa of DJ Mondo (USA), resident DJ of Omnia & Hakkassn Nightclubs in Las Vegas, this Saturday night at Hyde Park Cafe! We got to visit him on the Omnia Terrace last October.  EDM.

PI Update: Crappy Service From Morimoto

Morimoto Asia is super-pretty on the outside.
I had the occasion to dine there twice during its first year of operation. It's not cheap but the service was good although nothing to rave about either. Nonetheless, last month I had the opportunity to plan a dinner outing for a group of 28 people and I thought what could be more special for the occasion than holding it in my favorite former dance club!
And that private dining area where the Mannequins light wall was located would be perfect. So on October 18th I emailed Morimoto Asia Assistant General Manager Bernadette who responded back within hours, putting a hold on the space and providing possible menus. But that was the end of the good service from Morimoto's banquet department. I emailed. I left voice mail messages. No response. Exasperated, I went there in person on October 31st and met Sales Manager Molly who seemed disinterested but promised me a response by the next day. Nothing. So I booked elsewhere.
The cost of my event will run $4000 + tax + gratuity + service fee or nearly $5000 when it's all said and done. I just don't understand how any business nowadays, especially one in such a competitive field, can let this kind of revenue walk away.  Pretty crappy service, Morimoto.

PI Update: Is The Revolving Floor Still There?

That was the sign for Mannequins Dance Palace back in the day!
When they installed the new sign last year they spelled Mannequins wrong but we all know what it is!
Stepping inside, who can forget Mannequins enormous light wall up on the stage!
Now upstairs back there it's a private dining area. Boring.
Mannequins had those gaudy purple pillars all over the place.  We loved them though!
The pillars are still there but now they're white.
But what about that amazing revolving dance floor?
Prior to the building reopening, sources told the Blog that the dance floor was too expensive to remove so it was to be buried with a new floor built over it.  On opening night a General Manager told me that it was removed in sections because it was rotten and filled with water.  I'm skeptical. No one ever saw it removed and the Blog had many eyes on the place. And indeed, why remove it when you could build over it?  Personally, I think it's still there!  And after Morimoto goes out of business for crappy service (see Blog tomorrow), the revolving dance floor will rise again!
