Concert Report: The Reunion (Venue 578)

The Reunion returned to its roots last night at Venue 578 but really known to everyone as Firestone!

I arrived at 10PM thinking it's early and it's gonna be empty. No, the place was already packed!

Before tackling the main stage, decided to check out the alternate venues first. In the Den, DJ Eric Berretta.

While in the Loft, DJ Sandy.

Like the main room, the side rooms were all jammed too!

Through the thick haze on the main stage, DJ Magic Mike (USA). We'll be seeing him again tonight at the new Service Industry Night at Mango's!

Time for one last pass through the club.  In the Den, (right to left) DJ Versa-Style tag teaming with DJ Geebo while MC Collaborator did his thing!

While in the Loft, great seeing DJ D-Xtreme booming the room out!

And it kind of ended how it began.....packed!

Concert Report: Armin Van Buuren (Echostage Washington)

Echostage, Washington DC's new mega-club!

Arrived in the club to find DJ Roberto Gonzalez (USA) in the booth.

The crowd in this massive but brilliantly done venue was still light at this point.

 Gonzalez is well-known around Washington. He closed for Above & Beyond (GB) in July! His set was a mix of Progressive House and Trance.

It got more exciting when DJ Ruben De Ronde (NL) came on at 11PM!

The crowd was building.

And if you didn't arrive early, you were somewhere back there!

De Ronde's set mixed both vocal and non-vocal Trance selections!

And the club's lighting effects were deployed while he was playing too!

And at 12:30AM this morning, there he was!

Armin Van Buuren (NL)!

In the world of Trance, Armin is God!

Thanking Washington for coming out!

Club was packed to the rafters!

Predominately young, Trance has made a huge comeback!

Confetti explosions!

Famous for his long-running worldwide weekly radio show, "A State of Trance".

I was disappointed when I saw him in Toronto in January, but last night he was right on point!

Also a mix of vocal and non-vocal songs, his selections included some of his well-known tracks.

Going to see a few more great DJ's tonight at The Reunion in Orlando!

And at Echostage in the District last night, a good time was had by all!

DS Update: Characters Coming?

I don't recall Disney characters ever appearing in Downtown Disney so I was kind of surprised when I saw a balloon man selling Mickey balloons in Disney Springs during my recent visit. 

I was even more surprised when I heard a rumor that Disney characters might be making actual live appearances in Disney Springs later this year!  We're told shop sales are well-below expectations that they're willing to do anything to get people to come out. In the past, they always wanted to keep the famous characters in the parks and at character meals and not allow free guest access to them. Apparently, that might be changing.

Jimmy Joslin (USA) does what Jimmy Joslin does best at Orlando's home of Breaks, Peek Downtown! Friday night, payday weekend!  Breakbeats.

Meanwhile those of you over in SRQ get DJ Icey (USA) plus Tony Faline, Mike Nice and many more!  At Old School Bar.  Breaks/Old School.

No one wants to compete with The Reunion but we did find DJ duo Seeb (N) performing at Attic Nightclub. EDM.

Remix the Store's Official 9-Month Late Grand Opening Party from 4PM - 11PM with lots of our local fave DJ's! Old School.

The Sunday night Service Industry Night has migrated from Club 39 in the Rosen Plaza Hotel over to Mango's, also on I-Drive. Featuring DJ Magic Mike (USA) & DJ Leony (USA).  If you're off on Monday, this is the place to be on Sunday night! The Blog covered Mango's opening night last December here. EDM.

Techno Sunday has returned to Peek Downtown beginning this weekend and if you like Techno and if you like Free, this is the place.  Featuring Blog favorites Carlos Mendoza, Mindwayer and more!  Techno.

The Life In Color paint party is out at the Fairgrounds this Sunday night and it features DJ Seven Lions (USA) Bass / Hardstyle / Dubstep.
