NYE Club Report: Atlantic Dance Hall

Another seemingly screwed-up New Years Eve dance party at Atlantic Dance Hall last night. I had  been calling Disney Dining since early December to inquire about the event and every time I was told there are only $80 VIP tickets available, no $37 general admission tickets.  No one would listen to me when I told them this event has not sold out in nearly a decade and G.A. can't be sold out!  And other than a few independent websites such as the Blog, the party wasn't advertised anywhere including at ADH itself!  So sure enough, while I'm told they sold more than 150 VIP tickets, the huge dance hall was largely empty!
They had a live band last night playing 40's Swing and I'm sure that was nice.  But they also failed to hire a DJ for the event so the lighting tech had to improvise during band breaks as well as later in the evening after the band ended. I'm sorry, but while he tried hard to play music and videos, he was not a DJ!
I dropped by after 1AM and they still had some partiers on hand dancing.
But it was painful to hear the music stop between songs, with no beat-matching when some of the songs did connect.
To make matters worse, remember the plans we announced on the Blog about ADH going to a Pleasure Island club format on Thursday nights to try to bring back the CM crowd?  Well, we're told the club manager who was pushing that plan has transferred to elsewhere. So it ain't gonna be happening.  What a mess. At Atlantic Dance Hall last night, a good time was not had by all!

Pathetic. I bet Universal doesn't operate this way.

This always happens, a new manager gets brought in, thinks they can "make a name" for themselves and ends up leaving the place more screwed up than the last one... Seen this cycle go on some many times over there, I gave up caring.

Best thing that could happen is Disney sell that space to a private company to manage.

I would have been pissed if I had purchased $80 tickets!

Nothing wrong with a new manager trying to make a name for themselves by being innovative with new ideas. But then not getting the blessing from those above prevents things from happening and things stagnate.

The thing is, ADH is NOT the place you go as a new manager to make a name. If every new manager would just get that part thru there head, they would find themselves at the most easiest job in all of Walt Disney World.
