Club Reports: Ember, Vintage, Heat, Bliss, Independent Bar

A chilly but otherwise beautiful night in Orlando last night as I continue to try to expand my club horizons, only to end up going to the same places over and over again! First visit in about a year to Ember though, a kind of restaurant turns club at night. The beautiful outdoor patio is a great place for happy hour, tapas and socializing but no real dancing going on. DJ Smooth (Red Coconut Club, RadioDanz, Royal Pacific Resort, XM81 BPM) was spinning Top 40 and House outside while DJ Eric was spinning pretty much the same inside.  The venue gets crowded so it makes a good starting point for a downtown night out, especially when the weather cooperates.DJ Smooth returns to the Coconut next Saturday night.

Vintage is always popular on Saturday nights and it's one of those places where you just have to make your own dance floor wherever you can find some space. DJ Dominick Morrison is in the booth on Saturday nights but I forgot to take his picture so I'm using one taken on NYE at his hugely successful show at EPCOT's China. I was in Vintage rather early and things were just getting cranked up yet there was already a good-sized crowd on hand.
One of the most anticipated club openings in Orlando in recent times is happening next Saturday night at Heat. Located on Church Street in the new 57 West complex. Heat will offer dining and a seven nights per week nightclub. Their website promises different types of entertainment each night and thus each visit will be different. Local and national DJ's! Looking forward to that!

If you're looking for Mannequins style music on Saturday nights, look no further than Bliss Ultra Lounge featuring DJ Mickey Bono (Beat Thrillerz, RadioDanz, Vain). The dance floor typically does not fill up until nearly midnight but last night it got packed early for awesome Dance and House music. The dance floor does not revolve and there are no CO2 spray downs but the music is the best in town!
Spotted at Bliss with a friend was DJ Tony Z (Atlantic Dance Hall, Planet Hollywood).

If I'm downtown you know I'm always going to end up at Independent Bar for their 80's New Wave night. Could hardly move through the place last night as revelers returned post-holidays to one of the city's most popular venues. DJ Indie John was playing one early MTV hit after another!
