On several occasions in early 2010, Disney Security invited the Blog inside to inspect the long-closed Motion. |
Sometime after Pleasure Island clubs were shuttered, Motion was offered up as a rental facility for private events. We are only aware of one "dance club" event held inside Motion and that was for a 2009 Gay Days event which we covered here. |
To our knowledge, Motion was only used for Disney cast member events after that and it was fascinating to come inside and see all this convention/meeting seating throughout. |
Above the former dance floor, a lighting rig still dominated the ceiling! |
Pretty much barren though, the place must have been a depressing place to hold meetings. |
This hallway still housed the still-operational Motion elevator and restrooms. |
And the stairs to the dance floor overlook still were lit up in all their glory! |
Many did not know that behind the front Motion facade, Levy Restaurants operated from backstage 3rd-floor offices. Again, this was in early 2010. In early 2011, the building would come down! |
For me, not just the best nightclub on PI but one of the best nightclubs in the whole of USA

Not the best videos, but memories. The first video is from downstairs looking towards the stage, the second is from upstairs looking down at the dance floor. At one point, the Cha Cha Slide was played every night at midnight. Still and always will miss our Island!
I would often go over to Motion at midnight just to do the Cha Cha Slide but then return to Mannequins right afterwards, lol!
ReplyDeleteAnd before the Cha Cha, there was YMCA at 8Trax at midnight. And before that, there was fireworks at Midnight with Frankie and The West End Boys and The Explosion Dancers on the West End Stage. Damn Mouse!
DeleteYes, leaving Mannequins and going to Motion at midnight and then back to Mannequins.. ahhh, the days
DeleteGreat memories there, Ray!
ReplyDeletebefore motion was wild horse salon.
ReplyDeletebefore that (older building that was knocked down) was fire works factory
Used to love eating at the Fireworks Factory. The men's room urinals had windows so you could see people at the bar while you were relieving yourself..Lol!
DeletePI had two attempts at country bars. There was wild horse saloon and Neon armadillo. Neither was successful.
