Club Reports: French Quarter (New Orleans)

My annual trip with coworkers this year was to New Orleans. After a mid-day arrival and lunch, it was time for the festivities to begin with a visit to Hoodoo Lounge
And like nearly every venue in New Orleans, it had those damn alcoholic slurpee machines!
And a nice pirate vibe while EDM played in the background!
One of the great things about New Orleans is the ability to purchase a drink and then carry it with you down the street.  Try doing that in Orlando and see where you end up!
Blog readers know that I rarely set foot in Country music bars. But my group out-voted me so here I reluctantly was in Bourbon Cowboy.
The awesome DJ booth was this old Chevy pick-up truck!
DJ Maverick was dishing out the Country tunes.
My group was having too good of a time which was problematic because it meant we might be staying even longer!
But eye candy on the mechanical bull meant that even I could live with that!
I'm sure there are stories behind each of these additions to the bra wall.  No $1.99 K-Mart models in this group!
None of us were jazz fans but we did have to take a peek into Maison Bourbon.
A live Jazz band was playing as the vocalist sang in a 30's vibe. Very cool.
Now over to Krazy Korner!
DJ Ray Jay was in the booth delivering classic Hip Hop hits!
While some in my group got the dance floor started!
And an MC sang-along to the tunes!
Another brief stop was Fritzel's European Jazz Pub.
When you think of New Orleans you thing of Jazz.  My annual coworkers trip last year was to Toronto (here) and two years ago to Chicago (here).
There was fun to be had outside on Bourbon Street too and my colleague here would get more than a mouthful!
Plenty of buskers trying to earn a living.
Of course we had to drop by Chris Owens Club to see what was going down!
DJ T.K. Monyea was in the booth playing Salsa.  You don't see boards like that anymore!
Sadly famed French Quarter fixture and celebrity Chris Owens was not in attendance during our visit.
But the dance floor was packed with Latin music lovers!
Next stop Fat Catz Music Club.
The live band "Rock Box" was playing Hard Rock.
Once again my group led the festivities!
And like everywhere in the French Quarter, no cover charge!
Famous Door was another live music venue.
Lighter Rock was being played here.
And you can never go wrong with Go Go girls!
Three Legged Dog was home to our mandatory rest stop.  Highly recommend their delicious tacos, burgers, tater twats & wings!

My hungry crew anxiously waiting for their selections to arrive!

Technically not in the French Quarter, Harrah's New Orleans is located at the base of Canal Street across from the Mississippi River.
And it's home to Masquerade Night Club.
Resident DJ Mike Swift (USA) did not spend much time in the booth, he was more of a MC wandering around the club!
It's a large club and was pretty crowded but not packed and the songs played came with their music videos on screens or monitors around the venue.
Time for some "Cupid Shuffle"!
You can never go wrong with Go Go girls!
Like I said!
The music was all Hip Hop classics and Line Dances.
 "Wobble baby Wobble!"

Last stop of the night was at Bourbon Street Drinkery where the sounds of good music was drifting out the door!

More of a large bar than a club, the music was Hip Hop classics again!  I never located the DJ so it might have been recorded music.

With hundreds of bars and clubs in the French Quarter, we barely tipped the iceberg.  So glad though this was just a 1-night trip though because the thought of doing another night of this....lol....no way!  Everywhere we went, a good time was had by all!  And as they say in Louisiana, let the good times roll!
