The event's icon is this statue by Alexander Calder that was designed for Expo 67 Montreal that took place on these same grounds nearly 50 years ago!
Arrived at the Piknic to find DJ Molly (F) on the main stage delivering an all-vinyl set!
Getting a half-smile out of the DJ, her set was mostly Techno!
DJ Molly is a resident at the famous Rex Club in Paris.
The event is open to all ages so particularly early you'll see families with their picnic baskets enjoying the music, the weather and the ambiance!
The early crowd beginning to build!
But still some room to dance around 6PM. Most people arrive via Montreal's Metro system which has a stop right here at the park!
Looking amazing in her tank top, short shorts and Nike midtops!
Before her set would end, it would be thoroughly packed out there! Techno had the peeps bouncing!
Piknic Electronik takes place at Parc Jean-Darpeau on this island in the middle of the St. Lawrence River directly across from downtown Montreal. The view is incredible!
Promptly at 6:30PM local-favorite DJ Mistress Barbara (CDN) took over.
Her set was a bit more House than what we heard prior.
Born in Italy but living in Quebec since childhood, she's previously won Best DJ Award for Montreal!
OK, we're packed now! Grooving to House beats!
Entry is just C$15, a little over US$11.
Just an incredible dance vibe that begins every Sunday at 2PM and runs close to 10PM!
She's opened for Tiesto, Carl Cox, John Digweed and many more and I finally got to see her!
There is a second stage at Piknic Electronik and it was no less amazing!
Live set from DJ Peter Anthony (CDN) in progress when I arrived!
Set at the bottom of a sloping hill, it was just as crowded as the main stage!
His set was more House, Deep House & Progressive!
Peeps dancing all over the place!
And gathered in all corners of this heavily-forested island!
With a good time being had by all! Big thanks to Piknic Electronik publicist Francois for the professional courtesy!
