DS Update: We Found Trophy Room!

You'll likely remember Trophy Room, the athletic wear/sneaker store owned by Marcus Jordan, son of NBA-star Michael Jordan. It was located in Disney Springs Town Center near the No. 2 Bridge to Pleasure Island. It opened with the rest of the Town Center stores but closed at the end of March, 2019. We had heard he was reopening in downtown Orlando.

Although we had previously searched for it, we finally found it last week! It's located at 50 S. Rosalind Avenue on the ground floor of an apartment building adjacent the DG Supermarket. If you're just walking along the sidewalk you don't see the sign above and the tinted class makes it hard to know there's an athletic wear store there. There's just not a lot of retail in downtown Orlando. Best wishes to Trophy Room downtown!

Club Reports: Barbarella 3.0, Palm Tree Club, Iron Cow

Located inside The Axe Trap on Lee Road on Saturday nights, Barbarella 3.0.
Arriving shortly after their 9:30PM opening time, we walked into this.

And just as it should be on Saturday nights, DJ Indie John (USA) in the booth delivering the good stuff.

The Saturday night music format is 80's New Wave and Alternative.

Most of the music accompanied by their original music videos.

The Axe Trap has a full liquor bar while Barbarella 2.0, which was located in an industrial park off John Young Parkway, only sold low-octane alcoholic drinks.

Spotted nearby: DJ Smilin' Dan (USA). He tells OEN that for the next few months every Friday night at Barbarella will be "Mac & Cheeze" night where nearly every genre of music can get played. Saturday's will be the traditional New Wave night with 1x per month devoted to the darker, gothier "Memento Mori". The next "MM" will be on Saturday, March 22nd ft. DJ Lavidicus (USA).

The Axe Trap building is on sacred grounds where the famed Booby Trap strip club once stood. This stripper pole in the corner pays homage to it and always draws a crowd.

A good time was had by all.

Our next stop was Palm Tree Club located upstairs at The Pointe (formerly Pointe Orlando).

We walked into this.

Resident DJ Sheen Boogie (USA) was playing when we first arrived.

The club is owned by DJ Kygo (N) and his logo has been placed onto the front of the DJ booth.

The music is EDM.

And the dance floor was packed!

And then at midnight, there he was, the headliner.....

DJ Regard (RKS)

He would continue with an EDM set.

Including his biggest hit "Ride It". PARENTAL ADVISORY

DJ Regard is based in Kosovo.

We visited the Kosovo capital of Pristina a few years ago where the most-visited tourist site is this statute of President Bill Clinton who played a large part in Kosovan independence. The Clinton statue was designed with abnormally large hands. No doubt if a Trump statue is ever erected it would be with abnormally small hands.

Upcoming events at Palm Tree Club include DJ Poolside (USA) on March 21st and DJ Sigala (GB) on April 25th. A good time was had by all.

The next and final stop was Iron Cow.

We walked into this.

The headliner was already on: DJ Todd "The God" Edwards (USA).

The dance floor was pretty jammed.

DJ had everyone bouncing.

The music a mix of Garage House and UK Garage.

Todd Edwards is based in Los Angeles.

He's known for being very engaged with his crowds and indeed he was.

Playing his remix of Donna Summer (USA) hit "I Feel Love" showcases his distinctive sound.

Upcoming events at Iron Cow include DJ Todd Terry (USA) next Friday, March 14th, DJ Mark Farina (USA) on April 5th and DJ Deekline (GB) on April 12th. Everywhere we went last night, a good time was had by all.

Club Reports: McQueens Social Lounge, Monkey Bar, The Robinson

With our cruise in the Middle East having occupied two earlier weekends and events last weekend in Melbourne and Miami, it was great to be back in downtown Orlando again. We began our Friday night at McQueens Social Lounge located upstairs above Bullitt Bar.

After coming upstairs, we noticed the club's back bar was closed and roped-off. The front bar was open though.

In the perch we found DJ Sandeezy (USA).

The venue's gold skull selfie wall is still there. It was at this point we realized we were the only customers there. But it was pretty early.

A few minutes later these three girls arrived and began dancing to the music which was mostly new and classic Hip Hop mixed with some Reggaeton.

My Tito's & Tonic was only $7.84 so this was a good start to the night.

But the days when this became a House music venue after 11PM are apparently over.

In the vast music desert that is Wall Street Plaza, our next stop is a proverbial desert oasis.

Hidden upstairs above Waitiki, Monkey Bar.

We arrived to find DJ Ed Abisada (USA) playing House.

Monkey Bar has a huge balcony overlooking Wall Street Plaza below and most of the crowd was out here on this beautiful spring evening.

Many of the beauties were out here too.

Friday/Saturday night resident DJ Dity (USA) came on a few minutes after we arrived.

House music all night long.

Around midnight, DJ Mighty Shari (USA) taking over.

Her set had the dance floor bouncing.

She was playing mostly Disco House & Nu-Disco, all with a 70's vibe.

DJ Laura Mariee (USA) stopped by the booth for a visit.

If you're looking for House music downtown, Monkey Bar is the place!

Our final stop last night was The Robinson.

Like our two previous stops, also located upstairs. We arrived to find this packed bar.

The action takes place in their side "Disco Room".

We turned the corner to find this!

Delivering the good stuff, Friday night resident DJ Chino (USA).

Lots of EDM in his set! We heard some Calvin Harris (GB), Avicii (S), Henry Fong (USA).

The fact the crowd on the dance floor was 80% female did not hurt.

The Robinson has not just one but multiple shiny disco balls. So you know the place is legit.

We heard some Dom Dolla (AUS), some Pawsa (GB) and Mau P (NL).

The Orlando chapter of the DJ Chino Fan Club was in attendance.

The Request Line was open.

Absolutely packed!

A good time was had by all.
