PI Update: The Island By Sea

I'm headed-out on a little cruise next week so I thought I'd best get some practice on my sea legs!
Islands everywhere!  Next week it's the island of Key West and the island of Cozumel.  This afternoon, it's the Island of Pleasure!
Of course Key West and Cozumel are adult destinations known for partying.  Pleasure Island used to be known for partying.....but not anymore.  Not when 5 comedy and dance club buildings stand idle.
Comedy Warehouse is still there but it's role is limited to being the place outside bands can plug in their equipment.  I did hear a rumor on the Island this evening that comedy will be returning to PI in the near future. But the source wasn't sure where or when.
Checking out the former door to the 2nd Floor of Mannequins.
But access to both the 2nd and 3rd floors remain available backstage if they're ever needed.  Be sure to make Pleasure Island your next island destination!

I saw where Starbucks plans to open inside of all the Disney Parks.

Perhaps the old Mannequins building could become the worlds largest Starbucks with revolving barista floor.

Better catch that double espresso or it will be cold by the time it makes it back around!

  5. Jeff -too funny, I was going to text Bob and suggest a satirical article of the same idea! "Disney Parks presents: DTD Bold New Vision - Rotating Starbucks!"

  10. oh yeah I forgot to ADD from a earlier post: is it not funny how there are pics from the inside of most of the clubs! but Mannequins! I know what your going to say "there is one" NO the PIC I am sure you will comment about was taken from OUTSIDE looking in! not inside looking around! like the 8TRAX ones!

  11. Anon at 5:39pm,I have been in Motion, 8TRAX and Comedy Warehouse subsequent to the closure. I have not been in Soundstage, Adventurers Club or Mannequins since they closed. The pictures of the inside of Mannequins were taken from outside the garage door but even those are old....January 2010. The only "fresh" info we have about Mannequins is from Disney Security who told me that the floor is still in there, as directly observed by that Security person.

    Anon at 5:33pm, "preview"?

  12. OK but like I have heard the place has been gutted! with the floor gone!? why do "we" still get this? Security tells you the place is as it was. but have heard from ...... that is it all gone? I think Disney wants us to NOT know the truth. yes I know some of you will say this makes no sense. you do know that your Security guy could get canned if he is tellin us things he should not. just sayin!

  13. All we know for sure is what we know as of January, 2010, from the pics: The floor was there, some mannequins were still hanging and the place was not gutted. However, we know from other sources that the club was gutted of nearly all lighting and sound equipment.

  14. Just got info today from a DTD manager that there is extensive mold inside the Mannequins and 8 Trax buildings and that they are definitely slated for demo. I confirmed this with a security guard that is frequently stationed at PI, who said this was the info he was privy to as well... Who knows what fate is in store for them?

  15. Placing your comment way down here in a now Page 2 article will make it go unnoticed. You should post this on a newer article where people will see it.

Nonetheless, since the Island's power grid complex is beside and within the Mannequins/8TRAX building, it's doubtful they can be torn down.
