PI Update: Demolition Under Way!!!

Big thanks to loyal Blog reader "The Legend" for alerting me that the demolition has begun and providing the above photo. I've reported previously that this isn't going to be a wrecking ball type of demolition. Instead, workers will dismantle Motion and Rock'n'Roll Beach Club piece by piece. Supposedly the debris will be barged out at night to a staging area west of House of Blues. Thanks, Legend!
Alerted to the news, I was able to visit Pleasure Island today to snap the rest of these photos.
Are full dumpsters really being barged out at night or are trucks coming in to haul them away?
Side view of Motion looking through the backstage area which ultimately will become the new main pathway through Pleasure Island, er, Hyperion Wharf.
Pollution protection booms around Rock'n'Roll Beach Club are now installed and wrap around Motion.
The demolition of Rock'nRoll Beach Club has begun too with the removal of all those glass windows.
With the glass removed, it's now easy to see into RRBC.

No progress at the Lily Pad, which remains surrounded by that construction wall.
One other construction wall remains in place too and that's this one on the Waterfront across from Cooke's of Dublin. I've not been able to figure out what they're doing in there either!
And that's the latest from beautiful Pleasure Island. Come out and see it while you can!

  1. Hopefully they will leave Manniquins & 8Trax alone and rebuild them.
Also maybe they'll reopen Adventureer's Club, and Comedy Warehouse.
    Hopefully let the place Rock!!

  7. With its multiple levels, 8TRAX is well-suited to be a night club, not retail stores. It is not going to be torn down. However, it is slated to be renovated if and when (and that's a BIG if and when) the space is leased. Would be happy to hug the building with you!
