PI News Roundup
Here's the latest news and rumors from beautiful Downtown Disney:
As was previously reported in the media, the Starabilias memorabilia store in Downtown Disney West Side has closed. This came as no surprise because they had a huge clearance sale several months ago and then the latest Guidemap for DTD no longer listed the store even though it was still open when the map came out.
A Cast Member rumor associated with that closing is that the Harley Davidson store, currently located on a corner space on Pleasure Island, is going to be moving into the corner space vacated by Starabilias. That would leave the Curl surf-wear store as the only venture still inside the Mannequins-8TRAX building. We always wondered how they would tear down or drastically renovate the building when it housed two stores. But if they both move elsewhere, there's nothing to stop a demolition!
A poster on the WDWMagic forums stated he attended a Cast Member party at club Motion. (He didn't say, but I assume this past weekend). He reports that officially it was the last event to ever take place in that building. So Motion is coming down too?
Is House of Blues going to close too? That's another rumor that's out there. Both the restaurant and club seem very popular but as the last night club of any kind in DTD, does Disney want them out because of the clientele it attracts? Again, this is just a rumor.
Your comments (and rumors you've heard) are appreciated.
They probably should close HoB, as it's not very appealing for "families", just like PI was.
ReplyDeleteOf course, PI is much more pleasant for families and strollers now that there's nothing to do there.
a friend of mine has his high school reunion scheduled inside motion before the end of sept. Idk how that will all play out. Perhaps it was the last CM event at Motion?
ReplyDeletePersonally I wonder why you would have a class reunion inside motion, especially after the disaster of gay days.
Making certain clubs available for private rental has brought PI next to no business. Overall there have been VERY FEW rentals.
