Club Reports: The Patio, Aero Bar, Memento Mori @ Axe Trap

We're not sure if the correct word is "gall" or "nerve", but it takes a special kind of "audacity" for a nightclub to claim that there's "ALWAYS" a party at their venue. Because "ALWAYS" infers always, we're going to hold them to it.

We arrived last night a few minutes after they opened and there was already a crowd growing on their dance floor.

Friday/Saturday night resident DJ Parry (USA) was in the booth cranking out mostly Hip Hop and Top 40 hits.
We stepped away for a few minutes to grab some free popcorn from the adjoining room and came back to see it had already gotten like this!

Parry draws the crowds every weekend and with this being Florida Classic Weekend, we should have known!

Of course The Patio has a shiny disco ball so you know they're legit.

Well damn, there really is always a party at The Patio. A good time was had by all.

After a week away on the high seas and hearing zero EDM, we knew where we needed to go next. Downtown favorite Aero Bar.

We arrived at the rooftop bar to find a few people dancing but mostly away from the DJ booth. That would soon change.

Saturday night resident DJ Dominick Morrison (USA) was in the booth celebrating his birthday and pumping out the Electrohouse.

This place gets packed every Friday and Saturday night although it still had a ways to go during our early visit. The Dom tells us it also gets packed here on Thursday nights with a younger crowd when he plays a mostly Dubstep & Trap set.

But on weekend nights, Aero is thee home of EDM in downtown Orlando.

The lasers were flying last night. As a rooftop bar, at Aero you're literally "dancing with the stars".

A good time was had by all.

The Axe Trap on Lee Road in Winter Park is the Saturday night home of club night Barbarella v3.0, home to 80's New Wave & Alternative. But once per month, it becomes home to Barbarella's darker cousin, "Memento Mori".

Arriving around midnight, we walked into this.

Memento Mori resident DJ Lavidicus (USA) was in the perch spinning the darker genres such as Industrial, Goth, Dark Wave and Power Noise.

But we also heard some familiar New Wave in there at times and all of it kept the dance floor packed.

Unlike Barbarella 2.0, Barbarella 3.0 has a full liquor bar so you can get all your favorite concoctions.

DJ Lavidicus' other monthly show, "Abyss", takes place at Good Times in Maitland with the next edition on Friday, December 5th.

A good time was had by all.
