DS Update: Second Store Closes

Let's pay a visit to Disney Springs to see if there's anything new to report.
Blog reader Madman Ray reports that the Vince Camuto shoe store has closed in Disney Springs Town Center. This becomes the second store to close after Sound Lion but the first in the new Town Center section.  I know I always used to peek inside to see if this girl was working but she never was. I regret not being able to meet her!
Of course the first to fail was Sound Lion and finally Savannah Bee Company has opened in it's former location along Hill Street on Pleasure Island.  I'm not really sure what they sell here but they'll need to sell a lot of it to pay the rent!
Over at Riverboat Square on the Island, hammock specialist (there's such a thing?) Swings N'Things will be moving into the kiosk just vacated by Savannah Bee Company.
Over in the Marketplace, Secrets of the Empire will be opening soon in the rear half of Once Upon A Toy.  It will offer a virtual reality experience that includes smell, touch & feel! My understanding is that this is a temporary attraction.
Meanwhile, they still have Mannequins spelled wrong on this marquee!

  3. The entire Vince chain has closed, not just this location.

  4. Anon at 12:21pm: Apex is becoming Oakley but it's the same company so just a brand change, not a closing.

Anon at 3:44pm: I've not heard any recent reports but I know after they opened the Town Center sales were allegedly pretty bleak.

Anon at 9:16am: Thanks for the information. Website shows several stores still open in the U.S.

  5. The Springs are very nice, although definitely underwhelming. I think the only way to really get a solid experience there would be to rack up a nice night of dining and drinking with friends. Other than that, its pretty much just a nicely designed and decorated outdoor mall with mostly esoteric shops that I didn't have much desire to set foot in. But it was "nice" which to some degree really means "BLAH." Night life is definitely needed, so I hope the Edison and stuff around it will kick the place into higher gear. And when more of the retail shops close, then they can consider building clubs in some of the vacant spaces. Call me crazy......
