Brightly lit with an entrance directly on Main Street in downtown Gainesville, Simons is a far cry from the underground institution it used to be in the 90's when the unmarked entrance was in an alley at the rear, it was dark inside and up-and-coming DJ's such as Deep Dish, Carl Cox, Felix da Housecat, Richie Hawtin, Icey, Josh Wink, Sasha & Digweed played here. |

When I lived in Gainesville during the 90's, the music at Simons was Breaks, Trance and House. The music now is EDM, Trap and Hip Hop. |
The music back then was mixed off records. The music now comes from laptops.

When Miami and Orlando governments banned all-night raves, it took longer for the Gainesville City Council to catch-on so Florida's scene definitely shifted to Gainesville for awhile. |
|
But whether it was then or now, one thing about Simons remains true. A good time was had by all! |
Looks like you were in my neck of the woods last night. Never been to Simon's, but I pass by it often!
