Attended the first night of 5th edition of Electric Daisy Carnival - Orlando last night outside the Orlando Citrus Bowl Stadium.
First stop was the Neon Garden stage. Last night it really could have been called the Trance Garden stage!
Arrived in mid-afternoon to find DJ duo Venice (USA) on stage!
The early crowd was enjoying an EDM set.
But this stage switched to Trance at 3PM as DJ Jason Ross (USA) took over!
And he would lead a very animated set!
Young crowd......Trance ain't dying!
My experience with EDC-Orlando is that the Friday night crowd does not arrive until 6PM but that was not the case yesterday as it was already pretty crowded at 4PM!
The Circuit Grounds stage has a pretty cool design but last night it was Bass & Dubstep heavy and I never set foot in the place. I'll try to do better tonight.
Over next to the incredible Kinetic Field main stage!
Found DJ duo Amine Edge & Dance (F) over here!
Their set was EDM/Dance with some real House in there too!
You can never go wrong with Go Go girls!
Plenty of EDC girls!
Animation team heading to another stage!
Some Daisy girls!
Back to the Neon Garden for Trance DJ Ben Gold (GB).
Big roar when he played Above & Beyond's "We Are All We Need"!
Spotted: Downtown Orlando friend Trish with her friends.
Spotted: Prior DJ Jason Ross coming down to visit his peeps!
Spotted: Don't know who they are or where they're from but they were so loud and crazy I had to include them in this article! Thanks for posing!
Spotted: Alexi from the EDC film crew.
Dance floor packed for Trance!
You can never go wrong with Go Go girls!
Back to the now full main stage.
First time EDC-Orlando performance by DJ Laidback Luke (NL)!
Dragon coming to life, photo one.
Dragon coming to life, photo two.
His set included classics "Better Off Alone" & "Kernkraft 400".
Needed some more Trance though so returned to the Neon Garden stage for DJ Ilan Bluestone (GB).
Spotted: Jessica from club Peek Downtown.
By now the dance floor was wall-to-wall!
Blog favorite DJ Ferry Corsten (NL) taking over at 6:30PM.
No EDM last night; it was an all Trance set! Ferry always smiling!
That look of Trance. Crowd was really getting into it!
Spotted: Orlando City Lions stadium announcer & DJ David Ziemba with friend!
Spotted: DJ Pedro Vazquez (B.B. Kings) with Lanie from 2050 Productions.
Spotted: DJ Willie Lugo (Disney's Atlantic Dance Hall) with his wife Chely!
Spotted: Promoter Diego Granda with Hannah & Alejandro.
Over the past 5 years there have been relatively few DJ's from Sweden invited to perform at EDC-Orlando but we got a great one last night in Eric Prydz (S)!
He has such an unmistakable sound to call his own! His set was non-vocal Techno / Tech House except for recent hit "Generate" which has vocals. His set was amazing!
Main stage had plenty of pyro & fire!
DJ Snake (F) was injured in a car accident last week and did not perform at Surrender in Las Vegas the night I was there but he's fine now and did perform last night!
When I saw him a few months ago at Venue 578 he played a lot of Trap but last night it was EDM all the way including his mega hit with Major Lazer, "Lean On"!
His Trap hit with Lil Jon "Turn Down For What" also got played!
Too far away and too dark to get a good picture, but finally the 9:15PM performance of DJ Calvin Harris (GB)!
His set included most of his large number of Top 40/Dance hits from the past few years including "Feel So Close", "Sweet Nothing" & "Summer". This was the highlight of my EDC 2015.
Confetti blasts!
DJ Tiƫsto (NL) closing out the night on the main stage, opening with a song off one of his "In Search of Sunrise" albums from back in the day!
Dancers in a frenzy!
Since I had just seen him play last week at Hakkasan in Las Vegas and stood ten feet away from him there, this distance here held no appeal for me. I thus called it a night.
At Electric Daisy Carnival - Orlando Day 1, a good time was had by all! Day 2 begins at 1PM today so come on out!
