The former marquee sign at Mannequins, post-closure but prior to it's removal. |
The new marquee sign at Morimoto Asia, pre-opening. Odd location to place a tree, no? |

They've still got some work to do if they're opening on September 30th. |
Excitement is building as we wonder what this new venue will be offering! |
tell you it will NOT offer!! GREAT music! Dancing! ETC.....
ReplyDeleteBut it'll have that great rotating floor serving sushi until late at night! This is true! I know it! Cuz I know everything! !! !!! !!!!
ReplyDeleteJust returned from a WDW vacation and finally got to check out the "Disney Springs" construction and development for myself.
ReplyDeleteHaving visited and enjoyed Downtown Disney and especially Pleasure Island in the past, I can honestly say that I see the changes to the area as nothing but positive. The new construction and restaurant offerings on "the island" are beautiful and fantastic! While Pleasure Island was fun......let's face it....it was tacky mess of a place! The taste level has certainly been raised to new incredible heights that have for me, put to rest any longings for "the island" to return to it's former state. The design and disgusting state of the Planet Hollywood exterior was a glaring reminder for me!
The live bands at DTD in the evenings were fun, divers and entertaining as was the vibe and energy of the place. While I will miss that rotating dance floor and the light show that was Mannequins more than I can tell.....I can now see how an establishment like that would not be a good fit in this re-imagining of the space. There is no-longer dead space during the day. I do however hold out a lot of hope that "The Tunnels" does turn out to be a club experience similar to what Mannequins was. Set apart.....underground in a space only open and accessible at night; that would be an ideal scenario to bringing a club establishment back to the area....although it's sounding more and more like Disney may do their best to discourage that kind of establishment from opening within Disney Springs given the recent news from HOB....
again we have pics of all of the clubs inside at one point BUT none of Mannequins! so again I ask why not? and someone claims the floor was covered! we will see the truth soon!!!
ReplyDelete"nothing but positive" HA the best is LONG gone!
How will you "see" the truth if it's covered?
ReplyDeleteCuz I have speshul vision!!! I can see all!!!!! So there!!!
ReplyDelete@September 11, 2015 at 8:56 AM good one!! why would they cover a floor? when it opens and there in no round floor it is not under it! and has been gone for a long time! if it is then someone lied to cover the leaks! or they got lied to/told this to keep the truth gettin out before hand or it was going to happen and things fell apart! as we all saws in the 1 set of plans things change(d)
ReplyDeleteBut the floor is in there! I saw it! I'm tellin you its there! Not my fault if you can't see it! Why don't you believe me! I'm really sane I am! Really! The exclamation marks prove it! You'll see soon! It's in there! Just covered up! Cuz they saved it! BUt its there! Disney are geniuses!
ReplyDeleteIt's been long enough and I'm no longer a cast member. I took the first pics of the floor post closure. The big door was unlocked, I went back the next day, raised it up just enough and snapped the pictures. Idk what happened to it recently but I pushed that button and took those pictures and saw it with my own eyes.
ReplyDeleteWell the past is the past. We'll soon know if the place will offer any nightlife whatsoever. Things are looking bleak for adult nightlife in Disney Springs with the booting of HOB's two weekly DJ parties.
ReplyDeleteI was conceived on that rotating dance floor! I can feel it in my 'nads, that dang rotating floor is still there! Maybe they're going to cover it with something! So you can't see it! But the deep pit and the rotating floor must remain! Otherwise without it you have a deep empty hole all the way to China that you couldn't build anything on top of and that would be too expensive to fill!
