OK, we know there isn't going to be dance clubs per se at The Landing, the replacement for Pleasure Island. But word is that everyone is going to have to remain open until 2am so what are all these restaurants going to do after 10pm or so when guests quit dining? The answer is music and dancing. We know the new Boathouse is going to have multiple bars and evening entertainment. We know the upscale steakhouse STK has stated they will have DJ entertainment at night. Mannequins replacement, Morimoto Asia, has not announced anything but they're occupying a huge space and they're going to have to offer something at night to pay the rent. So while we may not end up with any new clubs, we still may end up with some good options. We've come a long way together. This is not the time to lose hope! |
They have destroyed Mannequins Dance Palace. The best we can hope for is some live music at a restaurant? We can get that at Ragland Road. I can get that right here in Dallas along with great dance clubs. My Disney AP expires in June and I have decided to replace it with Universal when that happens. Pending some big announcement, ie The Tunnels with real dance clubs as good as PI
ReplyDeleteWhen they first closed the clubs, we traded our Disney Premium passes for Universal's Premier pass. It was probably the best thing we have ever done pass wise with our annuals. We have never looked back or second guessed that decision.
ReplyDeleteThe Island is dead, HOB is sensored with what acts they can book, Universal's Groove is disaster on its own. Would love to see Dominick Morrison and Jim Fox take over a few nights at The Groove. The attractions are over with the exception of HOB Sunday's with Magic Mike playing festival music, next EDC they should book Magic Mike for his festival Elctro and Progressive House set, why not do a report from Sunday's at House of Blues? I am sure you would have some amazing packed dance floors pics right from the island at weekly event.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 1:40pm, Mannequins is still in progress of being destroyed although the revolving dance floor will supposedly just be covered up. Marimoto is going to have to do something to draw crowds post 10pm so who knows! And yes, the Tunnels looks promising.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 3:45pm, your theme park choices really don't impact adult entertainment choices at night. But Uni does offer some incredible rides that Disney can't touch.
Anon at 5:41pm, the Blog has covered Magic Mike at HOB numerous times. Just type "House of Blues" in the search box for numerous articles. Sundays at HOB are pretty incredible!
Disney Springs will open as "version 1" and will very likely go through the usual Disney evolution over the next 10 years. We've all been around Disney long enough to have seen, and to have come to expect, that they now tend not to get it right the first time. There will be evolution and changes (uh, error corrections, really) over the first couple of years. So I think this blog could have a helluva lot of fun guessing which of the things announced to-date will close first, or which will undergo some sort of major tweak. There are fun times ahead for us observers (uh, closure victims?) who have lost everything with the massive conversion to "shopping and dining." I'm still rolling my eyes at the big Disney Springs shopping mall which we're gonna have forced upon us. Gag...
ReplyDeleteFN, I think there will be a few FAILS, if Disney lets that happen. But I have my doubts about that. They know they are under a microscope.
