Club Reports: CityWalk

Saturday night in Orlando and spending this one out at CityWalk at Universal Orlando Resort.  There are a handful of clubs to choose from but I only visited two beginning with Red Coconut Club.
Resident DJ Leony (Sirius/XM BPM, RadioDanz, Party100.9, Vanity) was on the front stage mixing all-EDM during my visit!
Formerly the DJ at CityWalk's Latin Quarter, he brought his Thursday & Saturday Latin Night format over to RCC when LQ closed!
And business at RCC has never been better!
Dance floor was packed as Leony was doing one of his House sets!
It was difficult to move about the place!
Spotted: Roosevelt Disco Duke (8TRAX)
DJ Leony joins DJ duo Cazzette (S), DJ Vic Latino (USA) & Audien (USA) at Electro Chemical Show in Gainesville on October 24th!
Moving next over to The Groove!
New very cool lighted DJ booth just added since my last visit!
The reason for coming!  Tampa's DJ Mondo (Amphitheatre, Green Iguana, Jackson's) was back at the club!
The Groove was packed too!
Mondo owned the place!  Opening with a typical "Groove mix" of expected Hip Hop and Old Skool bangers you only hear anymore at The Groove (or wedding receptions), he used that to quickly fill the dance floor.
And once that was accomplished, he went into a mostly all-EDM set that had the crowd in a frenzy and no one was leaving!
House, Dance, Breaks, Trap.....it had it all!
The upstairs was closed last night except for bottle service so that made the downstairs even more crowded than it would otherwise have been.  I was told Friday night was also crowded.
You can never go wrong with Go Go girls!
DJ Mondo dropping by to say hello!
Great music meant you had to claim a spot on the dance floor and defend it!
New lighting, lasers, CO2 spraydowns, confetti-drops and bringing in great DJ's has made The Groove one of the top clubs in town now!  This is a big change from when we first started coming over here in the post-Pleasure Island era six years ago and the place was mostly Hip Hop.
A good time was had by all!

  2. Red Coconut Club and The Groove are the only two "designated nightclubs." There is also Pat O'Brien's, Margaritaville, Nascar cafe, Anjitos, Fat Tuesdays (walk up bar) and Hard Rock Cafe along with some of the other restaurants (Vivo, Emeralds, etc)

  4. Not sure when you were there, but I know that they were putting in new floors, new carpet, and new furniture. Maybe some of the speakers where disconnected while they were remodeling?

  5. Wish they would ditch that VIP area in the coconut thats always empty so that dance floor can be spread out more. So crowded.
