Breaking News: Mannequins Door Open, Waterfront Drained!
Save Pleasure Island Blog roving reporter Thommy out on Pleasure Island this afternoon reports that The Waterfront has been drained! This is the body of water that ran beside Mannequins and 8TRAX and wrapped around to connect to Village Lake. This is the water that passed under all four of the Pleasure Island bridges and made PI an island!
In addition, the side garage door in Mannequins was wide open today and Thommy reports "a lot of clanking and hammering sounds coming from within!" Big thanks to our reporters out there! More pictures Wednesday night!
When you think about it, Motion is gone, The beach club is gone, Adventurer's Club is fully gutted Soundstage club is fully gutted Comedy Warehouse is gone 8Trax is sawed in half...
but Mannequins is still there. Right down to the light wall, dance floor, and even some of the mannequins. After the sound permit, and the fact that it looks like nothing's changed on the inside, is there a hope that this may be revived into a new nightclub?
Anon, seems pretty bleak and the word is no clubs.
I just don't see how they can change Mannequins into a restaurant of any kind. It's huge, it's industrial, it's dark, it has a stage, it has a 2nd level that wraps around that is very narrow.
To turn it into a restaurant the costs would seem to exceed new construction, so why do it?
I think its so cool that we can just barely see the rotating dance floor in there. Gawd I miss that dance floor.
ReplyDeleteMORE PICTURES WEDNESDAY EVENING.
