DTD Update: High Line Coming To The West Side

New concept posted at Downtown Disney West Side shows what the new "High Line" elevated structure will look like. Built alongside the new Food Truck Park (formerly Bongo's Lawn), the trestle will provide a place for those purchasing food and drink from the food trucks to consume their purchases.
Meant to invoke memories of old abandoned elevated rapid transit track structures such as you might find in New York, Chicago and other cities, it will provided much-needed shade to the West Side walkway below.  Access is via an elevator as shown in the foreground, or stairs shown towards the rear.
Originally we thought this was to run most of the distance along the West Side but it now appears it will only exist beside the Food Truck Park, from approximately Starbucks to Bongo's Cuban Cafe.
So far only this one section has been installed.
Located alongside the DisneyQuest Emporium building, the new Wetzel's Pretzels trailer has been installed and should be open soon.  WP's former home across from the No. 4 Bridge from Pleasure Island has been gutted to make room for DTD's first Starbucks.
Adjacent to this will be a return of Häagen-Dazs.
Lastly we visit the West Side base of the No. 4 Bridge which has been cleared of vegetation.  The concept art we published Tuesday (click here) shows this area adjacent Planet Hollywood flattened from PH to that bridge.  Those crossing that bridge to PI arrive on the Island's upper level.
While a new bridge beside PH will take pedestrians over to PI's lower level adjacent the new steak house restaurant.  For now we'll refer to it as the No. 3.5 Bridge!

  1. Bob, have you heard anything about what may have happened to the trolley? I don't recall seeing it in any of the Disney Springs concept drawings or the model.

  2. Ace, it was just one of the many rumors that were out there. I think it was being seriously considered but did not end up in what they ultimately decided. Obviously it would have been a very expensive option.
