Does anyone still remember this place? There were 5 dance clubs: BET Soundstage Club, 8TRAX, Mannequins Dance Palace, Rock 'n' Roll Beach Club and Motion. There were 2 comedy clubs: Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse. It was all on an island so that access was limited to just those with tickets. No strollers. The clubs were non-smoking. Lots of security so you always felt safe. What a clever idea. CLICK ON IMAGE TO ENLARGE |
And the Virgin Mega Store and Starabilias!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI heard stories of it when I was still in Atlanta. Some of the Djs in my record pool, Dixie Dance Kings, were Djing there and we'd get together for the annual DDK convention in Atlanta and swap stories. This was circa 1998-2002. Once I moved to Orlando, I never had the occasion to get over there and see it for myself.
ReplyDeleteI think it may have been all a dream...
ReplyDeleteIt's sad to think that six years ago Pleasure Island had fun night life, nightclubs and dancing.
ReplyDeleteNow City Walk is getting all the night life.
P.S. Now there is nothing going on there for the adults, Pitty.
You would have loved Mannequins, DJ Smooth. Unique because of the large revolving dance floor, ahead of its time with its lighting.
ReplyDeleteDJ Mad Man Ray, it was a good dream while it was there. Unfortunately Disney turned it into a nightmare that has lasted almost 5.5 years.
IT was all a dream A great DREAM! too bad Disney made it come true? because I cant think how Disney would close such a great place!!!!
