PI Update: 8TRAX Demolition Halted?

One never knows what one is going to find when  you cross this bridge to Pleasure Island.  But one thing certainly not expected was to find 8TRAX still standing!

When we last visited a week ago a backhoe was crunching away at it, hauling away the memories with the debris!  So why did the demolition stop?  Is what's left of the building going to be repurposed?  Or is this just a temporary stay of execution?
We don't know. We have heard some recent chatter about Disney Springs having 2 nightclubs when it's all said and done.  But we've been up and down this road before.
For now, 8TRAX remains!  Celebrate Good Times!

  2. Hopefully this is good news for the P.I. people wanting to save it.
Maybe people are starting to rethink this because of the power grid issues.
So hopefully they'll fix 8Trax and Mannequines, and let all the adults from 10:00pm to 2:00am party, and Celebrate Good Times!
    P.S. YAY!

  3. 2The August edition of the Downtown Disney Guidemap still shows 8TRAX demolished so my guess this is just a delay rather than a reprieve. Although you have to wonder why all that plastic weatherproofing is in place for a building you're about to tear down.

  4. So since nobody has done the eye in the sky shot yet ...is it just the marquee area torn off?

Yes, the weather proofing as well as their effort to cut off the end of that steel beam that is seen sticking out on the left hand side of the building in your demo photos does suggest the remainder of this building is going to remain standing. Seems like it would fit in well with the theme of the new area.

So, I am betting what you see will remain standing.

  7. The front section of the building where the upstairs bar used to be (kind of the front foyer to the club when entering from Hill St.) was demolished but I saw them side of the building being eaten by the backhoe too.

  9. Yea, I expect 8trax demolition to continue. As far as I can ascertain, the halt is temporary.
