Who will be in the vendor lineup when Disney Springs is completed? An insider on the WDW Magic website posted the logo boards above this past weekend. Please note that names such as Disney Bakery, Disney Burger, etc are likely generic placeholders pending real names signing on.
RESTAURANTS: There's that Food Network restaurant we mentioned for the 8TRAX space and Boathouse for the former Motion/RRBC spot. Trader Sam's borrows artifacts and concepts from the Adventurers Club and is quite popular at Disneyland. Shake Shack is a NYC burger joint with a store in South Beach. Argo Tea is from Chicago. The Edison is a nightclub concept from LA featuring DJ's on weekend nights!
RETAIL: Several names that can be found at the local malls but several more that can't. Topshop/Topman is a clothing retailer from Oxford Street in London with just a handful of stores elsewhere in the U.S. Superdry and Uniqlo are trendy clothing retailers from Japan with a very limited presence in the U.S. too. Bershka is a Spanish clothing retailer owned by Zara and this would be their first store in the United States. Marvel will have its own store which is awesome and we previously reported on American Girl Place and World of Coca Cola coming.
Overall I have to say this is a pretty impressive lineup and I'm sure there's more to come! But keep in mind that these logo boards show venue names that are NOT CONFIRMED!
And what about Mannequins and The Adventurers Club? Maybe even Comedy Warehouse. If they can't at least reopen Mannequins then I'm not interested.
ReplyDeleteYAY - I am really really hoping for Trader Sam's here in Florida. I wonder if it would go into the Adventurer's Club building as a somewhat-replacement?
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a pretty impressive lineup there. I'm excited to see more unique restaurants. Some of the retail stores don't seem to make a lot of sense, though. Most do, but specifically Apple and New Balance? Downtown Disney attracts mostly tourists, right? And Disney is likely expanding it to entice people to spend a full day there. So are tourists really all that likely to buy new phones/computers/shoes while on vacation? I'm sure they'll get a ton of foot traffic, but how much will they sell? I guess we'll see...
ReplyDeleteHuge Mannequins fan here but am thinking The Edison would fit well in that building. Check out the Edison web site. Looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteWell I guess if Trader Sams is coming then its almost certain that the adventurers club will NOT return. :(
ReplyDeleteOfficially we're told that none of the clubs are coming back. But the plans are not finalized. Our new DTD Sr VP is very aware of the situation down on the Island.
ReplyDeleteStrangeling & Anon at 3:27pm, if you look closely at the concept art there is one rendering where a pedestrian is walking past Paradiso 37 approaching the AC building. You'll see a steam locomotive (train engine) sticking out of the building. We have no idea what that is.
Ryan Joseph, yes, some mall-stores stores but also several foreign clothing stores that either have ZERO or FEW other locations in the United States. They will make DTD a shopping destination. I'm excited about that.
Anon, The Edison has me excited too because the LA location, built into a former power plant, does offer DJ's on weekends. And you're right, the Mannequins building could be the place for that! It's ill-suited for anything else.
for the love of pete, they have to fix parking then. the locals (from all central florida) will be there for the unique shopping (topshop alone with bring them in). parking was always bad, but this would make it ridiculous
ReplyDelete@ Jen called a parking garage!
ReplyDeleteWhat did they say back when PI was closed? More shopping and dining. Whatever form it takes, it looks like that's still the plan.
ReplyDeleteJen, yes, parking garage in front of World of Disney area.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 11:48pm, more shopping and dining for sure. The change is the scale of the changes though. Originally they were just going to retheme Pleasure Island. Now the entire DTD complex is being rethemed....and greatly expanded.
Superdry is a British brand not Japanese, just thought I'd say.

>Superdry is a British brand not Japanese, just thought I'd say.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. All that Japanese writing on the clothing must have gotten me confused!
If that says Morimoto's, that would be exciting. I've visited his Philadelphia restaurant twice and walked away happy each time. Fabulous food there.
ReplyDeleteNo Nightclubs = FAIL! locals cant afford those overpriced resteraunts and shops! in 19 years i never bought one thing nor ate in but one place and it was like almost 100 bucks for 4 people to eat some cardboard pizza,i hope the place flops!Citywalk will continue to get all of my money even though its not near as good as Mannequins was.
ReplyDeleteLooks like quite an extensive and exciting line up. I noticed on one of the maps that the Lego store appeared in orange or yellow or whatever the color is for new buildings. Do you think that means another new store or that was part of the recent refurbishment?
ReplyDeleteWhat about Earle of Sandwich?
ReplyDeleteEarl of Sandwich will be expanded but it's not moving or leaving.
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the LEGO store. It's highly unlikely to be leaving DTD but you're right, it is orange.
Superdry is actually a UK brand inspired by Japanese graphics and vintage Americana. It was established in Cheltenham (10 miles from where I live in Gloucester) in the mid 80s.
ReplyDeleteThanks, UKDeb! Someone reported that to us already, up above.
ReplyDeleteIn reference to the Apple and New Balance, who will buy this stuff on vacation? Brazilians will. Disney is a top destination, and the outlet malls as well as Walmart are a key stop on their trips. If Disney can keep some sales on property, then good for them.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see The Boathouse with classic wood & fiberglass boats! From the guys who created Rainforest Café. Cool!
