At this time there is very little to report. We know Disney has a big press announcement scheduled for December 7th but there are no rumors of it having anything to do with PI. We might get an opening date for Splitsville out of it which is still being readied for an alleged 4th Quarter opening. Blog reader Munchies reports that service awards for CM's took place last Thursday night at DHS and it included five shows by the Comedy Warehouse staff! Rumors have CW shows returning to the Studios again between Christmas and New Years, as they did last year. Unfortunately, that's all we have.

Comedy Warehouse returning to the studios for Christmas is no rumor. It's fact! Look for Xmas Warehouse shows to run through January 5th at DHS's 800 seat Premiere Theater!
ReplyDeleteI'll be at WDW in January for the marathon weekend w/ the family and April for a conference. I'm a former WDW cast member, who still had an annual pass until 2009. I flew down to the closing night of PI w/ my dad, then returned January 2009 for the marathon weekend w/ the family (booked before the closing of PI announcement). My brother booked an off property resort for January. In April, I was going to stay on property, w/ the conference. I had made reservations through WDW to stay on site, and made the deposit. I decided the other day I'm going to stay off property. When I called WDW this morning to cancel my resort reservation, I was asked the usual questions, how many times have you been to WDW, when was your last visit, etc... I said 100+ (true, for after I was a CM, I had an annual pass), but had not been since January 2009. The very nice CM asked me why, and I said because I'm still ticked PI closed. She said she would put that in her notes. I'm going to stay closer to Orlando, for I plan to go to Pulse and Parliament House when I'm there and I'd rather have a shorter drive back to my hotel after a night of clubbing. Now if PI was still open, I could stay on property and I would have a much shorter taxi right back after PI. :)
ReplyDeleteShawn, thanks for that information. We had heard a few months ago from a manager that they wanted to bring the CW shows back but needed a larger venue than ABC Studios that they used last year. This is great news!
ReplyDeletePaul, we know a lot of meetings were lost because of PI not being there. The huge Gay Days event no longer uses a DTD area hotel as the host hotel because PI isn't there. But with Disney announcing record earnings, these types of losses don't get noticed, unfortunately. Thanks for your report.
I would prefer a more frequent update on PI and much less or no updates on other topics (with the exception of Citiwalk) since this blog should be about generating interest in getting PI opened again. Even if there's nothing to report, I would rather here that than nothing:-). Thanks!
ReplyDelete@ paul! sorry to say Disney does not care! if they did care PI would have not closed!
ReplyDeletea bunch of us signed the save PI thing! I am sure Disney saw it! DIDNT care already had their mind made up! so if you think they care all of a sudden you mistaken! SORRY!
and as for myself and others I have talked to we might go see what the new PI looked like IF it reopened WE will not be back like we once where! THEE PI we knew is gone FOREVER!
just one persons Opinion (and friends)
There were construction workers banging away on Splitsville last Sunday... dunno if they were getting overtime, but it looks like Disney is pulling out some stops to try and make their projection on that come true.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 2:18pm, Save Pleasure Island Blog covers both topics because that is its original premise. It was born out of people wanting to know what was going on with PI and people asking me where I would be hanging out after PI. The Blog has evolved but it is what it is.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 1:11am, they're working inside on weekends too so yes, I think the "pedal is to the metal" as they try to reach their "Fall, 2012" goal. They've got one month left.
Doesn't Fall end on Thursday, December 20th, 2012? Not much time left, but they can still meet the "Fall 2012" target if they work hard and fast. But how about another opening indicator -- press previews, hiring of staff, and more of those kinds of things should be evident elsewhere at least a few weeks ahead of any soft opening. So... More pure speculation on my part. Isn't this fun? ha...
