Club Report: The Groove (DJ Rascal)

The Groove at CityWalk on a Saturday night!
But not just any Saturday night. Guest DJ Rascal (Mynt, SET, Cameo) from South Beach in the house!
What was so odd is when I came in he was playing music very typical for The Groove on a Saturday night.  It was Hip Hop and older Top 40.  Not what I expected.
The club was packed though!

Without warning the Groove mix ended and he switched it over to EDM!  It was nearly all Dance/House/Electronic Top 40 for the rest of the night!  Now we're happy!
And let me tell you; no one didn't know what to do with the music!  EDM rules!

 Dancing in the rafters!
Spotted on the dance floor: The Groove resident DJ King (Motion, Rock'n'Roll Beach Club, BET Soundstage, PI Live).
Spotted on the dance floor: David (Motion, Pleasure Island Reunion @ ADH).
Rascal just completed a tour in Brazil last month!
Club management told me they plan to bring in a guest DJ monthly in 2013!
You can never go wrong with Go-go dancers!
And including the DJ, a good time was had by all!

  2. Sorry, too many gin & tonics to remember. The only one I recall is DJ Sak Noel's LOCA PEOPLE, the clean version of course! But I recognized pretty much everything

  4. if those two tracks are any indication, doesn't sound like he went too far off the rails.

i'd like to hear someone bring the actual Ibiza sound into Orlando; just once.

    the stuff they play at:

  7. DJ Smooth, we're talking about The Groove here. The House music was of the recent Top 40 EDM variety. Not REAL House music!

  8. everyone had a good time so that's what counts.

just once, I'd like to really open the house music flood gates. an Ibiza night..

some Pete Rose, Block & Crown, Switchcraft; pretty much a live version of my Frequency radio show.

  9. Bob, is the Groove owned and ran by Universal like Mannequins was by Disney or is it ran by a third party on behalf of Universal? (I know Universal owns Citywalk and all the buildings including the Groove.)

  10. DJ Smooth, that would be awesome. Probably would never work in TG though; as you stated previously the tourists have expectations of something else. Senso downtown plays a lot of Electrohouse.

Anon at 2:35am, to my knowledge, all the CityWalk clubs are owned and operated by Universal. Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and Pat O'Briens are franchises but Universal is the franchisee and they run them.

  11. Sorry; didn't necessarily mean in the Groove; I just meant anywhere in Orlando. ;)

From what I know of the Groove, it's a great club and it's run very well.
