Saturday night in September on beautiful Pleasure Island as captured by our roving reporter Thommy.
The parking lots are jammed,
Downtown Disney is jammed,
Pleasure Island is jammed! But for
Pleasure Island, you and I know that this represents failure. You see, all these people made the choice to come here yet relatively few of them are stopping to buy something, relatively few of them are stopping to get a drink, relatively few of them are stopping, period! But
Disney management does
not look at this as failure. They think this represents success. They still don't think the decision to close all the revenue-generating comedy and dance clubs was a mistake. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in nightly revenue traded for a few thousand dollars! They will absolutely not acknowledge the error because they actually don't believe that it was one. With that in mind, the likelihood of some sort of October announcement about what's coming to
Downtown Disney and
Pleasure Island seems to becoming bleaker by the moment. You see,
4-years after they closed everything, apparently local
Disney management still doesn't have a clue!
Well, as sad as it sounds... THANK GOD FOR CITY WALK! Lol, and that place was packed this weekend, all clubs!
ReplyDeleteYes, City Walk was busy, and it helps that with your ticket to Horror Nights, you get free admission to the clubs. Bob, we'll keep hoping!
ReplyDeleteI'm confused. I thought there were credible sources that said Mannequins would be reopening?
ReplyDeleteAnon AT 252! probably the same that said the floor and rest of the club is still inside! one like MR. Z?
ReplyDeleteWhat we need instead of saying a credible source said xyz is "John Smith, Vice President, _______ " at Disney said xyz. From now on I urge people to name their so called credible sources instead of just saying that they are well connected.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 2:52pm, we did have credible sources but that means nothing when it comes to DTD. The Mannequins & Comedy Warehouse rumor came from a credible source and was confirmed by a non-related secondary source. The Mad T-Party rumor also came from a credible source and was confirmed by TWO separate secondary sources. Keep in mind that Disney called a news conference and announced Hyperion Wharf. It never happened either. The Blog published actual blueprints of what was coming to Pleasure Island. That never happened.
ReplyDeleteDon't shoot the messenger. We're doing the best that we can under the circumstances.
So does the information still stand that Mannequins will be reopening or did the sources now say that it's not going to? Thanks. And Mad T Party?
DeleteMannequins is not coming back. All locations will become 3rd party like planned. :/ Sorry but it's the truth.
ReplyDeleteANON the reason I don't give up my credible source is because they could be fired! and I am sure the others feel the same!?
ReplyDeleteand all I can say is when I say something take it for what you really want! but that is what I heard! most of the time form more then one credible source!
"Don't shoot the messenger. We're doing the best that we can under the circumstances."
great statement because MR. "Z" likes to try and reduce some of us
for not agreeing with him! he is all knowing a credible source that he is!
It's now October I hope we hear that big announcment soon.
ReplyDeleteAlso thanks for the information.
Disney must know what a blunder thay made four years ago, and hopefully with a beginning of a new year they will open up the clubs at P.I. and let it ROCK!
Now that it's October hopefully we'll hear that big announcement soon.
ReplyDeleteonce again I get attacked for absolutely no reason.
ReplyDeleteAnyone is free to disagree with me, but I will not back down on things I have seen with my own eyes.
My record speaks for itself and that is all I have to say.
World class entertainment only factors into an equation like Disney if they are selling enough Long Island Teas (or bobble heads or whatever) to warrant said entertainment. An empty building isn’t producing profit but it also isn’t generating debt (to a great extent). The higher of those two takes priority when it comes to the doors being open or not.
ReplyDeleteMR. Z I am glad that you will not back down on what you say!! BUT the issue at hand is your NAME calling! it's when someone disagrees with you you go to the name calling you know when you called someone a "troll"! and what ever other CHILDISH name callin things u did!
ReplyDeleteyes your record speaks for itself all right!
OK, enough of that. Both sides have spoken. And calling someone a Troll (or childish, or anything else) will no longer be acceptable.
ReplyDelete>So does the information still stand that Mannequins will be reopening or did the sources now say that it's not going to? Thanks. And Mad T Party?
ReplyDeleteHave not heard anything further from our "club reopening" and "T-Party" rumor sources. It's different sources that are telling the Blog that none of the clubs are reopening. And yet again different sources saying that the T-Party is either on hold or not coming!
Unfortunately, the NOTHING IS HAPPENING rumors are fresher.
well if you know Disney History! then you know Disney will wait till the very last until they let you know what will happen! and or the Disney disney imagineers come up with an idea but does not pass the final person! and goes back.
ReplyDeletethis is not a Opinion or rumor this is just Disney!
It upsets me that Disney really does not care what their guests want. For example, Disney is the only theme park company that doesn't answer letters. Over the years I have written to all of them (Universal, Busch Gardens, Sea World & Disney). Sometimes to compliment, sometimes to complain, sometimes to make a suggestion. ALL, except Disney, have thanked me for taking the time to write, for my constructive comments and feedback. Some even sent me a gift with their personal reply. Disney has lost touch with the individual, they have become nothing more than another mega corporation churning in the most dollars with the least expenditure.
ReplyDeleteThe focus is fantasyland opening soon and I don't think they will announce anything for PI until work has started which would mean deals are definitely signed for new residents on the island...just my take.
