PI Update: Mannequins By Night

The fun never stops at Mannequins Dance Palace!  Some say old, some say new, but the LCD lights are on, flashing and changing colors again above the front foyer!
The smokers patio area is a lonely place at night; I guess most people have quit smoking.
Peering inside that door, one can still see one mannequin hanging above the dance floor!  From what readers have reported, the mannequins owned by Entertainment were removed and sold at Disney Property Control.  Those owned by the club remain hanging inside.  Blog Roving Reporter Thommy owns Manny, one of mannequins with eyes that lit up that would eerily drop upside down from the ceiling.
This is the almost the same picture but taken from a few inches further to the right and it shows the stairs that go up to the DJ level.  You can also make out the far side of the revolving dance floor.

From a Disney Press Release:  "Mannequins Dance Palace With A Bold New Look -- High-tech lighting and a state-of-the-art sound system pumping out the hottest techno and progressive beats awaits guests at Mannequins Dance Palace. One of the premier nightclubs in the U.S., this award-winning nightclub has proven to be THE place to go in Central Florida. Slick and stylish have new meaning on the revolving dance floor when DJ's play the latest modern dance music accompanied by state of the art lighting effects."

  1. Come on Disney, really? We've waited long enough. Now that Big Thunder Mountain is completed, put those constuction guys back to work and refurbish our "award winning club".

  2. Imagine the lines at this place if they really did reopen it. It would be crazy.

  3. I agree! With the resurgance of Electronic Dance Music, Mannequins would be as crowded as it used to be in the 90's....we used to joke that it would take 20 minutes to work your way through the crowd just to get to the bathroom!

  4. Completely agreed. EDM and mainstream songs featuring hints of EDM is huge right now. MDP would be 'off the hook'

  5. Oh, Disney, if only it were to come back...

  6. Just think if you reopen Mannequines, then go ahead and surprise everybody and reopen
    8Trax.
It was also a big night club in that had a lot of big action.

  7. First weekend in June...how much money is TDO leaving on the table keeping this club shuttered???

  8. A lot! But with record profits, no one seems to care that profits could have been even higher.

  9. OK 1st thing when where these taken? 2nd if these are taken when they claim!? you still can not see the floor! IF you say you can your fooling your self! and WANT to see it!

  10. I can see the Railing just where the floor should be! but can not see the floor I told you you could not!! LOOK real good!

  11. I can see the dance floor is still there. Yep they need to reopen these places.

  12. The pictures were taken sometime during May, 2012. I can see the floor; it's quite obvious. There sure is no hole there.

  13. Ok, so let's say they decided to have the revolving floor removed. Why would they do that? And where would they take the revolving floor? It's not like that's a hot item on Craigslist or something... And then, how would they cover and make the opening safe while the place is shuttered? Removing the floor creates problems and it makes no practical sense to me. "Not seeing the floor" sure fuels some interesting speculation and conspiracy theories, heheh...

  14. It is quite fun to get under the skin of the "there's no floor guy". As if the revolving floor is the biggest problem facing pleasure island....lol

  15. FN, you are correct. The "floor has been sold" theory dates back to about a year after Mannequins closed. But any club that would have bought it would have needed not just the floor but the entire mechanical works. And I've searched: there are no clubs advertising that they have Mannequins floor; something that certainly would be featured.

And the floor is pictured in the photos one of our sources took through the open side garage door more than a year after the closure.

And the Disney Security officer who was in there about 6 months ago has told me it is still there. That officer reported broken bulbs from the light wall....and a dead squirrel.

All evidence points to it being there.

  16. you can NOT see the floor in any of these pictures!! maybe the railing but no floor!! OK I get it you want to SEE the floor!
and your not getting under my Skin!! its getting to all of you!!

@FN the reason someone would want it. someone bought a monorail train from Disney land years ago now tell me that's not true?

AND yeah Disney allways tells us the TRUTH!! if you think they do your gona be shocked at some of the REAL truth!

  17. may 2012 and NOW yo get them and NOW post em!! HMMMM?

  18. Whoever bought the monorail (if someone really did) could store it in their backyard as a conversation piece. What would someone do with a revolving dance floor unless it was to use in a club? Sorry, it's still there in Mannequins. Are you the guy that told me you were going to break-in and see for yourself? (I urge you not to.)

Regarding the dates on the pictures in this article. I took the pictures in May and the article is dated in May. Sorry, but I don't see a conspiracy here.

  19. but someone said "no one wold buy the floor" and or anything like it's too big but now someone did buy the monorail! to prove this copy and paste!

    http://www.monorails.org/tmspages/cpmarkiv.html!

but the persons point was NObody would buy a monorail. SO what I am saying is YES someone would buy the floor out of Mannequins!! and People will buy crazy things!!!!!! so after all that it is POSSIBLE!!!

  20. but it doesn't matter anyway in the long run!! all of the clubs are closed! and Disney will NOT reopen them! it would COST way tooooooo much to rehab them now! and with the way MOST of you that did not support PI it would not be a thing Disney would want to take a gamble on!!

  21. @Anonymous (who is really "floor guy" but not willing to admit it, lol...): Love your comments, but am really wondering if there is a reason you're so passionate about the Mannequins dance floor. Got any stories to tell us? Did you conceive a child there or something? heh... Just pulling your leg, but actually really interested in where your passion for the dance floor is coming from. Inquiring minds, you know... Thanks.

  22. @FN grow up!! no special passion in the floor just that I am giving another point of view that could be true and not to believe that EVERYthing the fat rat tells you!
I have my reason(s) for keeping my Name (profile) hidden!! lets just put it that way!

  23. Anonymous (who is really "floor guy" in disguise) me thinks you have a floor fetish - you protest WAY too much. The "other" Anonymous who wrote earlier in this thread, and who is really Anonymous and not "floor guy," was right about getting under your skin...

But seriously, I do see your alternative point of view, its just not very likely.

  24. It's not that he has a floor fetish. A castmember told him a long time ago that the floor got sold. So that is what he believes. I can respect that. I think our photos prove otherwise but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
