OMG, without a wacky hat and outfit on, I did not recognize DJ Hollywood Bob (Motion, PI Live, Celebrate Tonight, DTD Waterfront Stage. Stitch's Club 626 Dance Party) at the controls! Bob was the closing DJ at Motion on Final Night. I had last ran into him at the One More Disney Day All-Nighter Party at Magic Kingdom on Leap Year day; link. |
ADH is so huge that even when there is a decent amount of people, it still looks empty. Such was the case last night. |
Line dances such as the 'Cha Cha Slide' do seem to get the maximum number onto the dance floor at the same time! |
Hello. And Bye.
ReplyDeleteOdd how Disney still commits square footage to this place, yet PI remains a ghost town.
ReplyDeleteTightglove, Disney is contractually obligated to the Swan and Dolphin to provide a night club for the hotels. Apparently there is no obligation to advertise it though, so they don't. It is thus horribly under-utilized. It is nonetheless a beautiful facility. As it remains the only Disney owned & operated dance club at WDW, it will be interesting to see what happens when the contract expires in either 2013 or 2014.
ReplyDeleteI thought that ADH (Disney) had a 50 year contact with S&D? I didn't realize that the contact was going to end within 2 years.
ReplyDeleteI looked back in the archives and found this in an Atlantic Dance article dated 1/17/09:
ReplyDelete"We've learned more about the connection to the Swan and Dolphin hotels. The club is contracted to the hotels at least through 2014 along with Jellyrolls and ESPN Club. I'm not clear whether that means the hotels operate the venues or if Disney operates them for the hotels, but there is a connection."
Well we now know Disney operates them but I had forgotten that apparently Jellyrolls and ESPN Club are part of the same package deal. And based on what I posted in 2009, the contract is through sometime in 2014, not 2013. So there are a couple years left.
