This past Tuesday the Disney Blog revealed that 2012 was going to be called The Year of More Magic. And they said this about that: "From exciting seasonal events and brand-new attractions to immersive new experiences and a special surprise announcement on New Year's Eve…there's a lot more than just Leap Year to celebrate throughout Walt Disney World® Resort in 2012." Okay.
There are certainly a thousand things that the surprise announcement could be about. But imbedded within the same blog article they said this: At the Downtown Disney area, you'll find unique shopping, delicious dining, live music and even incredible, new nighttime entertainment.
We know that last spring the Hyperion Wharf conversion was either canceled or postponed to be reworked. Could the reworking ideas now be complete and an announcement made about what's coming? We can hope! It's certainly overdue. Read the complete Disney Blog article here.
Hope, hope, hope! Come on Disney, bring the night life back! Bob, have you seen the new mobile version of the blog...pretty nice! Maybe the New Year will bring a little something back for us....
ReplyDeleteI hope the "incredible, nighttime entertainment" that they are referring to isn't "Splitsville"...
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's splitsville, isnt that set for 2013? or was it 2012? Either way, I hope ur right there.
ReplyDeleteThere's some speculation of a coast to coast 24hr opening of MK on Feb 29 due to the leap year...that would be interesting
Zulemara, yes, Splitsville is set to open in 2012. PLEASE, don't that be it.... (the exciting nighttime entertainment...)
ReplyDeleteWell it specifically said "incredible, new nighttime entertainment". Splitsville will have entertainment, it will be new and it will be offered at nighttime. All that is true. But "incredible"? I sure hope the announcement is more than that!
ReplyDeleteand again! IF Disney opens club(s) it will NOT be the old Disney clubs we knew!!! I don't think it will be as good as City Walk clubs!! more like A downtown Orlando (whole in the wall) club!
ReplyDeleteIt takes over a year to build a bowling alley... how the mighty Disney has fallen.
ReplyDeleteI just read the artilce and it did't look very good.
ReplyDeleteSo Pleasure Island bloggers hopefully it'll be a new year of nightlife returning to P.I.
P.S.
Lets hope, hope, hope.
SOOO. CW shows at DHS Christmas week. Performances of CW *AND* the return of our beloved permanent Adventurers last night at a Disney Cast Member Service Anniversary function. COME ON DISNEY, DON'T HOLD OUT ON US ANY LONGER. Just when I admittedly had lost hope, you're teasing me again...
ReplyDeleteSadly I doubt it will be anything PI related but it will be nice to have some PI back at DHS with CW shows. Also wanted to point out how ridiculous its getting over at AC I went past yesterday and they added another row of small potted plants. Just another way to mock us Adventurers and try to keep us away from even getting near the entry area. Oh and as always the lights were on inside the club.
ReplyDeleteWhen a light is on inside of the Adventurers Club, it means that Walt is there. Or at least I believe that the story of the lantern inside his firehouse apparment at Disneyland transfers over to the Club as well.
ReplyDeleteI gave up on PI but am excited about the new Publix opening dec 15 on cr 535 and Reams road. That place looks awesome and great for lunch out the back gate
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting that they are hosting a PI event at HS over the holiday break. Have there been any Disney "paid for" events realated to the clubs since they closed?
ReplyDeleteJeff, the Adventurers Club was rented for a 1-yr anniversary of the closing party, right inside AC. At the 2-yr anniversary the AC characters appeared for an anniversary event but with the building gutted, it was held at DHS in the Indiana Jones Spectacular Theater. Those were official Disney events. At the third anniversary of the closing Disney would not allow any of the AC characters to appear in their casted roles.
ReplyDeleteTo my knowledge, the AC comedians have not appeared at any Disney official events. Many of them did appear at a SAK Comedy Club event about 2 years ago and then again at an Improv festival in Winter Park about a year ago.
For a while in the two years after the AC closed, the "characters" (played by original actors) were used at various events around property, generally corporate functions I believe. I remember pictures from Animal Kingdom at one point.
ReplyDeleteAs for Disney's refusal to allow the characters to appear at Congaloosh III, without saying too much, it may have had more to do with some unfortunate circumstances surrounding Congaloosh II more than Disney policy.
One has to ask, what happened during Congaloosh 2010?
ReplyDeleteYeah, what happened at the Congaloosh last year? I never heard of any incidents.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm..... Would like to know what Anonymous was refering to when he/she wrote, "As for Disney's refusal to allow the characters to appear at Congaloosh III, without saying too much, it may have had more to do with some unfortunate circumstances surrounding Congaloosh II more than Disney policy." . I'm on the Board of Directors of The ConGaloosh Society and also Treasurer and am not aware of any "issues". Would like to know more. You can contact me via Facebook at Debbie Sanders Conn.
ReplyDeleteHDLady, since your comment entry was placed on a relatively old article, it might not be seen by the person your questioning. Many readers don't go beyond the front page articles. Two people before you asked basically the same question and never got an answer. I certainly heard nothing but praise about Congaloosh II.
ReplyDelete@KingBob - I realize that the author of that comment may never see my post but have no other way of trying to get add'l info so, if there WAS an issue, we might be able to remedy for ConGaloosh 2012...
ReplyDeleteAgree; would be good to know if there really was some incident or simple faux pas.
ReplyDeleteNothing about PI in last night's announcement!
