Good news 8TRAX fans! Coming very soon to the WDW area is Retro Room. Part restaurant and part night club, the 6,000sf Retro Room hopes to emulate the 8TRAX format with 70's & 80's dance music plus 90's hits as well. There will be DJ-driven music although I understand they may offer bands at times too. Located on US 192 east of US 27 in the Four Corners area where Orange, Lake, Osceola and Polk all come together, this is definitely a tourist zone which I feel is necessary to successfully operate this genre. We'll have full details once they're announced. If they do this right, they could have a big hit on their hands!
CONFIRMED: OPENING WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16th
If it's as good as you say it is it will really pack in the adults and some swinging nightlife.
ReplyDeleteIt seems as though this could be the start of something good coming to P.I. .
I think everyone will enjoy having the 70's 80's and 90's music playing again, they were great times, and I'm glad to see them coming back.
So let's all boogie down!
Great news cant wait to fly over and check it out :)

ReplyDeletedid you read the flyer NOT on PI! ON 192 ONE mile east of 27! HELLO! has NOTHING to do with PI! not even close! that is way on down on 192! have to drive though a bunch of NON locals! and not in a good place
The area is fine (right in front of Summer Bay is a bad place?). "Way down"? That's less than 5 minutes from Animal Kingdom.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to agree, this will be a "locals" place.. and if it's the location I think it is, were a former nightclub is. I'd think twice about the idea.
ReplyDeleteThis would work in downtown, around the Magic Arena, it would work @ citywalk and at DTD even... I give it 1.4 years in polk county and it looses money each month.. sorry, but that's just being honest.
I don't picture this location as a locals place. The area just to the east is all hotels, souvenir shops and tourist restaurants. The area to the west of TOLL 429 is home to many homes that are tourist rentals rather than steady homeowners.
ReplyDeleteI don't think a retro place would be successful in downtown Orlando. I agree that ideally such a place would be at PI or CW. But since those places aren't offering it, this will have to do. I think it's close enough to the main tourist zones to be successful. Whether it will be remains to be seen. It will take sustained advertising in the tourist coupon books, IMO.
Sorry but I just was on the Facebook page and it seems as though "current music" will be mixed in as well, this is a recipe for disaster. I bet the place will be mostly hip hop by new years eve
ReplyDeleteIf they do current hits on a current hits night then fine but if they are going to mix old songs and new songs all in the same night then theyre going to fail. It doesnt work.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to a report on this place (please!).
ReplyDeleteFrom your description I almost want to check it out when I am in Orlando in Dec.
Coming down from Ohio next weekend. Hopefully this is up & running.
ReplyDeleteBelle, I'll be reporting on Retro Room for the Blog as soon as I can. I know they hope to be open this weekend! Canada Girl needs a new place to party!!
ReplyDeleteTightGlove, I'm sure they'll be open well before you get down here.
This is the old Stilletos night club. I agree its not in a great area. Its a strip mall type of building. I give it 1 year and it will change owners or genre...
ReplyDeleteUPDATE: The club manager reports that they still cannot confirm an opening date because many details are still awaiting completion.
