8TRAX Is Back......Onboard Disney Dream

Nearly every cruise I've taken has featured a 70's Disco Night at some point in the itinerary. The music is so well-known and popular to all age groups; the clothes were so wacky yet we're right in the middle of a 70's fashion revival. Disney Cruise Line still knows how to do adult nightlife and apparently has re-branded its 70's Night aboard new ship Disney Dream as 8TRAX Night, even using the logo of the former Pleasure Island club! This is awesome and I look forward to adding this ship to my cruising roster. Thanks to passenger Matt for providing this photo to our Blog roving reporters.

  5. that should KILL that idea of clubs reopening ok BY Disney!
and still say wold be too big of a risk for anyone else to also!

  6. I don't think this has anything to do with what is happening at PI. We already know anything opened at PI would have to be "different" so the 8TRAX name was not going to be used again at PI regardless. By using the name elsewhere, Disney maintains its copyrights to the name too.

  7. Hope it's still in place when I go in June 2012. I know they are desperate to get people on board to stay in the club after the "main act" each night. I suggested theme nights to one of the supervisors who told me flatly "They don't do that on 3 and 4 night" which is interesting since I've been on the wonder several times and they had theme nights. Clearly someone over rode whomever was saying NO to theme nights.

  8. that is my point!!
the 8TRAX name is Disney!! and this shows that DISNEY will not reopen 8TRAX on PI!! and or any other club! would cost too much and not worth the risk!
I try and make a point nobody understands what I am trying to say.WHY? others do the same and they are understood. not going name names!

  9. I'm with Zulemara, hopefully this keeps people in the club later. All the clubs were amazing (well, except Skyline) but they were also empty when I cruised the Dream.

  11. Hopefully this will be the first step in reopening the clubs on "PI"
    not just the DISNEY DREAM.
So come on guys you got the Dance Palace club "with sign still intact" lets put 8Trax back in there, lets sweep the dance floor ,fix up the bars, put some tables, and put in a D.J. .
So that everybody can Dance and Party!
    P.s.
Lets reopen the clubs so that we can all have a Happy New Year!

that is what some have said and hope!
if Disney was to lose money I will have a HAPPY NEW YEAR! after doing this to us!
I do not understand how and why you would still give disney your money? I know that I am not the only one who feels this way (I have seen others post this) so I 2nd 3rd or whatever this

  13. not to get terribly off topic, but if anyone out there doesn't want to give WDW their money, I personally back that decision in most regards. However, DCL is a completely separate situation and is an excellent excellent product, akin to Disney of the early 90s. Those ships are the true example of the Disney difference. If you don't want to give WDW your money, give it to DCL because it's a fantastic product

  15. DamnMouse72, yes, please send pictures and videos if you'd can for posting.

71, that's sad that the ship's club is clearing out after the main event. I think an 8TRAX-themed event would keep a lot of people in the club!

Zule, DCL has consistently delivered club style entertainment to adults well after Disney World generally abandoned it. That should be supported. It's unfortunate (to most of us) that DCL can command two to three times the price for their short cruises than Royal Caribbean and Carnival charge. But it's supply & demand and it's why I've heard DCL is the Disney empire's most profitable niche.

Munchies, the picture was snapped by a passenger aboard the ship and emailed to our roving reporters. I've scoured the internet and can't find anything. I'll check to see if the "Personal Navigator" from that cruise was saved and if we can get a copy of it.

  16. DamnMouse, would love some pics or videos to post on here!

71Jason, it would be a shame if the clubs on these new Disney ships are not supported. They specifically created adult-only zones. I'm betting 8TRAX night is very successful.

Zule, it's too bad (for most of us) that Disney can charge twice or three times the price that Royal Caribbean and Carnival can charge for basically the same short sailings. But supply and demand determines prices and clearly they can do it. But it will keep me off their ships for the time-being.

Munchies, someone on the ship snapped that picture and emailed it to our roving reporters. I've not seen anything about it on the internet other than here. I'm sure DamnMouse will let us know if this is something on-going or not.

  18. Disney also charges much more than six flags etc because the product you are getting is better overall. The same concept applies to DCL IMO. Better detail, better service, with the Disney difference. Isn't that what makes(or used to make) WDW better than the competition? In the cruise line industry, I think it still does. At WDW, maybe not as much as it used to.
