PI Update: Adventurers Club Sign Removed!

Save Pleasure Island Blog roving reporter William reports that the Adventurers Club sign that was directly above the entry walkway has been removed! Unfortunately download prohibitions on this cruise ship will prevent me from posting the picture he provided.

This is a real puzzler in that the most recent rumor has AC returning so why take the sign off? On the other hand, the prior rumor had clubs returning with different formats, although they could be similar. So perhaps the AC is returning but with a new name and/or a new format!  Once again, stay tuned!!

  1. I have a bad feeling about this. Then again, maybe the sign is being refurbished and/or improved.

  5. I wouldn't say removed, I'd just say "filled in." One thing is clear, the building isn't going anywhere, and seemingly, we're getting a similar experience since they didn't demo the arch, column, or statue.

  6. I did hear that several projects are getting greenlit this week sometime. At least the building isn't being demolished. This proves that.

  7. I'm still feeling good about everything!

  8. Moonliner55, can you share any more? Dance club for Mannequins seems a given, what about BET/CW?

  9. Mixed emotions. The last nail in the coffin for the AC as it was, but renewed hope for dancing and partying on the island, which makes me happy for all those who've wished and hoped for Mannequins, etc. to return.

As for the AC building, best case scenario right now would be Jeckyl & Hyde as previously rumored.

Unless Disney decides to operate a similar but different bar in that locale. Possible but not likely.

Let's try not to think about gift shops or TGI Fridays at this point.

  12. people people people it is OVER! what will it take for you to realize this? nothing!? when and IF there is something in every building/CLUB! even then there will still be some one who will say it's not over Disney will still reopen a club!
THE only way a club will be on the Island will be a 3RD party! and they will NOT be what we liked about PI! the club will be like the clubs @ city walk and or Downtown Orlando! a club with a bar and a sound system that can't handle the power they will try and push in to the speakers! and CHEAP lights like the kind you could buy from spencers or a party store! and then a club that will play top 40! YUCK!!!

  13. The Truth?, we are all waiting for Disney to tell us....the Truth. Tell what is coming and whether we like it or not, the wait will be over. Until that happens.....and it has not happened in over 3 years....we can keep hope.

And, I think most of us are ok with 3rd party operated clubs because we know Disney standards and they would not be the low quality venues you describe.

  14. < opinion>
I agree, if it is 3rd party, I'm fine with that. Clubs operated like CW would be fine in terms of the "ultra lounge" feel some of them have and the hybrid between eating/clubbing at night. In terms of sound/lighting, we're not gonna get an MDP, but I don't think it would be the cheapest stuff on the block either.

As for format, we can only hope for a club with dance and another with 70s/80s since these are both very popular formats. What we don't need is more crap hip hop(unless it is an additional 3rd option)

    [the Question]
if you say Disney will not let a low quality venue in then it will NOT happen in this day and age would cost way more then (I think) anyone (company) is willing to spend for start up! that would/will be a BIG risk! Disney spend who knows how many millions on lighting, sound systems and liquor licence and liquor! have to hire severs, bartenders and dj's!

now thinking of all of that do you think it will happen! ? ? ? ?

  16. oh and RENT on Disney property will be HIGH! and someone (company) could find a cheaper place to go to you know like downtown Orlando!!! and that will mean a HIGH cover cost and drinks!!!!

  17. < fact> 8-trax has been painted a generic yellow color. AC repaint over sign is complete so it just looks generic now. < /fact>

  18. Now, I don't want to seem unsupportive of this cause - I'm certainly not. But I think "the Truth?" has some good points about new private clubs opening at P.I. It does seem very risky and VERY expensive. I'm not sure what types of incentives Disney would offer third parties but given their track record, it probably would not amount to much.

Since the economic situation seems to be slower than expeced to rebound, I find it unlikely that a private party would invest in such a venture while some huge companies are having trouble staying afloat.

But, I'm not an expert! And, I am still holding hope for some exciting news.....

    Thanks for the updates.

  19. Zulemara what is generic yellow? I just have to hear this! I know there are shades of yellow from dark to light but what is generic yellow?

    ReplyDelete
  20. It's a yellow similar to what Mannequins is painted.
    Yellow and Burgundy.

The Mannequins "histerical" plaque is gone now. I didn't notice if the few still remaining in the last couple years were also removed.

  23. Still no word from anyone who'd know if Disney was reopening the clubs themselves guys. I'd say we are just looking at them making the buildings appear "rent-able" from the outside more than anything else.
