PI Update: What The Heck Is Going On Down There?

I'm always scanning the internet searching for news about Pleasure Island. There are an amazing number of websites out there dedicated to Disney World (although this Blog seems to be the only one dedicated to Pleasure Island itself.) So I took with great interest some internet forum postings by someone named Raven over on the Walt Disney World Magic website. Raven is somehow connected to Disney and when he posts something, people sit up and take notice!

RAVEN: Much, MUCH more is in store for the entire DTD area, not just PI. Currently many ideas are being hammered out as to how everything will work together but nothing will be finalized for quite some time. Hyperion Warf is just the beginning.
RAVEN: You'll be waiting a while. That just how things are.
RAVEN: Let's just say for now that the current DTD, PI and WestSide put together is only about 1/3 of the size it will be when it is complete.

Take it for what it's worth.....but I think it's worth quite a bit. Doesn't mean we won't see a few new things sooner than later but now the vision for PI is apparently well-beyond just Pleasure Island itself and we may get a huge expansion of the entire Downtown Disney complex. Just remember that the rumor about the trolley train was posted here first!

  1. I like the title of the article, and I could'nt have said it any better myself.
Let's just hope they reopen the clubs for nightlife and fun for the adults.
P.S. Thanks for the info Raven.

  2. I hope Raven doesn't work for Disney because if he/she does he/she will get FIRED! if/when found out!

  3. He does work for Disney. In a somewhat high up role as well.

  4. My guess is that he doesn't walk around with a name tag with "Raven" on it.

  7. I don't see how DTD can be tripled in size and I don't see why it would need to be if it could. Buildings have remained empty for years.

  9. Anon 5:23, good point.
Just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

WDW has enough problems maintaining/staffing the infrastructure they have now (or in this case, finding tenents)

There's no need to expand more.

  10. well DUH i am sure he/she wouldn't have a name tag RAVEN!
just sayin that others have said how they will not reveal their source! so they don't get fired!!!!!! is my POINT! DUH!

  11. I have to think Raven is talking about some 10+ year plan to expand Downtown Disney into a regional lifestyle center destination. There has to be shorter term plans in the works to fill the existing spaces on Pleasure Island. If they can't fill PI spaces (and the Virgin space on the West Side), then there realistically can be no overall expanded DTD either. Expect a large convention hotel on site....and some trolley tracks!

  12. I don't think they have a plan beyond trying to find outside companies to come in and set up shop.

Triple in size? What are they going to do for parking?

Best rumor I had ever heard was making ADVENTURERS CLUB a dinner show for Animal Kingdom Lodge. It could have been their version of a Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue. Too bad it was just a rumor.
