Club Reports: West End Ultra Lounge, Rix Lounge, Atlantic Dance Hall

Independence Day weekend in the United States of America and half of the population is spending it at Walt Disney World. So what perfect timing for a visit to beautiful Pleasure Island!

First of all, the new Harley Davidson store is open on the West Side in the former home of LittleMissMatched most recently and Starabilias/Mickeys Groove before that. Notice the signs.
Because those signs are no longer on the metal stair tower over at the old Harley location. (See article earlier this week.) We can expect the tower to finally be demolished.

Over at the West End Ultra Lounge, the Andre Caram Band was churning out Top 40 hits!

Who says there's no dancing on Pleasure Island?

Huge crowd gathered to watch while Comedy Warehouse sits idle in front of them and Soundstage Club sits idle behind them!
Nicholas Marks and his gypsy guitar provided the other half of last night's entertainment lineup.

Quick visit to Rix Lounge at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort.

Not really much going on but maybe I was there too early. Quite a few people at the tables scattered throughout the place but the DJ's laptop was on autopilot and no one was on the dance floor.

Movin' on.....to Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney's Boardwalk Resort.

You never know who your DJ is going to be but we got lucky with DJ Frankie (Frankie and The West End Boys, West End Stage, Rock'n'Roll Beach Club) on the boards!
And a really good sized crowd on hand too on this holiday weekend.

With so much of today's music performed at a faster beats of House music, even ADH's Top 40 format had a surprising amount of Dance music in it along with the requisite Hip Hop segments.

Just some of the former Pleasure Island crowd in attendance last night.

Ditto.

Lighting tech Alisa (Mannequins, EPCOT China NYE) working the ADH lighting boards!

Spotted: DJ Tony B (Atlantic Dance Hall, The Groove, Motion, RRBC, PI Live).

Ladies just chillin'!! Admission to Atlantic Dance Hall is always free. Closed Sundays & Mondays.

  1. Hmmmm... I wonder what would happen if they gave all those people lingering at PI someplace to spend their money; perhaps an air conditioned club or two where they would stay for a couple hours and buy several drinks.

I know, that's just crazy talk.

  2. Well hopefully they'll soon put those empty buildings to good use. No doubt the revenue that is walking away every night is tremendous and it can't be recovered.

  3. Is Rix's usually like that? On autopilot?

  4. No, during prior visits the DJ was in the booth playing mostly Top 40 with people dancing. I think my visit around 10:30pm was just too early. No doubt the DJ was around since his laptop was installed in the booth but he just wasn't there in the booth with it. I need to pay a visit later in the evening.

  5. That answers my question. ;)

Any Dj that isn't doing his job at 10:30pm doesn't know what his job is.

  6. I tend to agree. Most of the chairs at tables along with the sofas had people sitting in them. Could have had people "moving" at that hour. The adjoining Pepper Market restaurant was jammed and I think loud music with a good beat would have attracted some of them over as well.
