PI Update: New Rumor Says Further Demolitions Cancelled & Clubs Could Reopen!
I want to make clear that the following information was provided to us by one of our sources but I've not been able to get any kind of secondary verification. The source is reporting that allegedly all further demolitions on Pleasure Island have been stopped. The real bombshell information though, if true, is that some or all of the clubs will be made available for 3rd party leases, as is, for any use including being refurbished and reopened as clubs!
The information given to us is that Disney would not reopen the clubs, they would have to be 3rd party leases. We're told that the clubs could not be the same as what was there previously but they could be "similar". Not entirely sure what that means but my guess is that Mannequins, for example, could not reopen as Mannequins but it could reopen as a dance club with a different theme with a revolving dance floor (which we're told is still in there). Ditto the other clubs; they could be leased and reopened in a similar to what they used to be yet different manner.
If this rumor is true, this is the best possible news short of Disney just reopening the places themselves! Nightlife would return to Walt Disney World and Pleasure Island would no longer be a ghost town. Other shops and restaurants would want to be part of that action! I want to emphasize again that this is just a rumor from one source and I have no verification of its accuracy. It should not be relied-upon by anyone for any decision-making.
Does this mean that the Hyperion Wharf project has been postponed or perhaps even canceled? I don't know. Now that Spring Break and Easter crowds have gone we'll know soon whether demolition walls go up around BET and AC per the prior rumors as well as the blueprints we posted here on the Blog. We'll soon see if work on the amphitheater begins anew. But wouldn't this be awesome if it's true!
< creative idea >
ReplyDeleteIt's so frustrating if true because I have the perfect idea for mannequins that would re-theme it without any major changes and everything about it could be easily justified and the format could still be techno! If only I had a couple million for the lights and sound system.
< /creative idea >
Think this has some link to the rumor of Jekyll and Hyde Club opening an Orlando location? I know of one building that's just perfect for that type of entertainment.
ReplyDeleteLet the reopenings begin....
ReplyDeleteOkay, don't call it Adventurers Club... Call it Club Adventure! Just remake the inside better than ever, rehire, and reopen it. Kungaloosh!
ReplyDeleteThat would be AWESOME! Bring back The Adventurer's Club!!!
ReplyDeleteOh...such wishful ideas coming in to my brain...
ReplyDeleteWTF?
ReplyDeleteI have the best Idea better than ALL of you!!
ReplyDeleteand that is open a club OUTSIDE of Disney and lets give them our money! NOT the fat rat!
I wish that the Company that owns Sea World would open a "Mannequins LIKE club" with the killer sound, light systems and also a round floor that would go ROUND AND ROUND !! that would be great and would tell DISNEY they f*cked up! I would go!
other wise Disney can SCREW you any time they want!
I love the first photo...that must be the bottom of that silly balloon, but it looks like the AC has a halo. ^_^
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the club not being demolished, and I certainly like the idea of a similar entertainment experience going in. I hope all this is true, but even if it is, it's too bad that Disney is too short-sighted to bring back the Club the way we all loved it.
Didn't they already try to get third parties to lease land/locations on Pleasure Island and then decide that wasn't working?
ReplyDelete[Opinion]
ReplyDeleteI think this is a recycled rumor!
so yes they did Scott.
< rumor>
ReplyDeletethe previous leasing was rumored to be non club, that people even approached Disney with club ideas and DIsney said no. Now they are apparently willing to say yes

This blog needed an influx of this type of information. News like this is at the core of why we come back to visit. KingBob, has the initial source provided you with good information in the past? Cast Member?
ReplyDeleteYESSSSSSSS.....PLEASE!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletenothing but rumors on here tell some concrete truth for once you lives must be boring to live for small scraps to believe in
ReplyDelete^^ Oh Anon, our lives are just fine Thank You. I leave you with this quote from one of the best movies ever made.
ReplyDelete"Hope is a good thing, maybe the best thing, and no good thing ever dies". ~ Shawshank Redemption
A reopened and changed nightclub is a lot better
ReplyDeletethan no reopened nightclub at all.
I hope the rumors are true, So let's stop "pussyfooting" around and fix all four nightclubs up so everyone can Party and Rock!!
I couldn't believe what I was reading at first! I know Bob wouldn't say this without respecting his informants enough to repeat their info. Nightlife has been boring to non-existant for me without the Island. The thought of lights and music filling up the evening air again at PI would be a dream come true. And yes, I will continue to HOPE that this will happen. Thanks for making my weekend.
ReplyDelete"nothing but rumors on here tell some concrete truth for once you lives must be boring to live for small scraps to believe in"
ReplyDeleteWhy do you bother reading this blog then?
You should go troll some other website.
Apparently my rumor may only be part of the story. From what I'm being told, Disney has not made up its mind "what" they're going to do out there. Third party operators appear not to want to open new restaurants on Pleasure Island so allowing them to open or reopen clubs is a new option. Thus, maybe we'll see some combos that involve restaurants during the day that turn into clubs at night, similar to some of the venues at CityWalk. We'll just have to keep watching!
ReplyDeleteNow that's an idea...open some restaurants that can become night clubs at night...hmmmmm....just like you said Bob, City Walk. Maybe if any of this pans out, they can call it City Island, or.. better yet, "Pleasure Walk". Really Disney, really?? Don't mistake me, I think it's a great idea, but really?? I guess the Hyperian Wharf idea wasn't well received by anybody, hugh? Give Us Our Night Clubs Back Damn Mouse!!! I hope something happens that gives us some night life down there....
ReplyDeletePleasure City!! LOL
ReplyDeleteIsland Walk! Hmm? just more funny names!
Bob just letting you know that the lights outside 8Trax were still on and the only chain was by the Mannequins door. Also noticed the lights above the elevator at Mannequins was on which I haven't noticed in quite a while .
ReplyDeleteSo, who wants to be a part owner of a PI club? :)
ReplyDeletehang on, surely an important question would be - what floor is the elevator on now??
ReplyDeleteBill, I'd go 50-50% with you on an 8TRAX, errrr, I mean 8TRACKS renovation.
ReplyDeleteDon't you mean Trax 8? LOL....
ReplyDeleteAs much as I want to see Mannequins reopened, I think 8TRAX would be far cheaper to do and more likely to be successful. The names you all suggested are too close to the existing name. So no 7TRAX either!
ReplyDeleteMannequins elevator is still on "2".
Interesting to hear lights on in their entryway too.
The Hyperion Wharf name or really any name change to Pleasure Island is stupid. The cost alone to change the hundreds of signs around the property let alone the ones actually in DTD is a tremendous unneeded expense. The PI name has huge brand value that would be squandered.
I just want the adventurers club back!!!!!!!!!!!! The adults need a place to go in disney for more fun too!
ReplyDeleteleave it the way it is and close up the rest of it, no intelligent business decision maker would take the risk of anything on that property. more will be closing just wait an see.. ragland will be next
ReplyDeleteI don't think Raglan Road is going anywhere. And I think a 3rd party operating a club on Pleasure Island would have a gold mine as long as the rent is not ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteOf coarse the rent will be ridiculous, it's Disney...
ReplyDeleteC'mon KB!, 4 days without an update?? The further away we get from this, the more plausible that it's just rumor.
ReplyDeleteThe Adventurer's Club Colonel is being auctioned off at Property Control. The minimum bid is $1000. He is obviously not coming back.
ReplyDeleteDaisy, I hope to have an update on Thursday. Trying to get more info about what is going on.
