PI Update: Motion & RRBC Removed From Guidemap

The new Downtown Disney Guidemap is out for January, 2011 and guess what ain't there no more? Motion and Rock'n'Roll Beach Club have now been removed, replaced with a tree-filled green space entitled "For Future Enjoyment". If anyone doubted that these two places were coming down and were not convinced by the demolition photos, then this should do it. Guidemaps are good predictors of what's happening; you'll recall I posted the removal of Celebrate Tonight from the Guidemap early last year and sure enough, the show got axed shortly thereafter!

The Guidemap is not entirely accurate. It still shows the #1 Bridge from Marketplace in it's old triple configuation; it was rebuilt completely last Fall in a new design. The Fuego by Sosa Cigars building looks more like the old PI Live tower than how the building actually appears. Mannequins still shows the eastern stair tower, something removed more than a year ago. And I remain intrigued that the Soundstage club building still sports its old logo on the map while none of the other closed clubs do. We'll be watching!

  1. Great pic Bob. If you look at the top right corner of the comedy club, it looks like their is still a logo there too!

  2. Possibly reading too much into it but Jungle Juice is also missing from the picture (and no mention of Laffers or PI Live bar).

  3. Mike, your observation is true but since the writing faces sideways, that logo is not really visible. Only the Soundstage Club logo is visible.

71, even when PI was open, those bars/kiosks were not specifically listed on the Guidemap either.

  10. I think it's pretty ridiculous to charge $20.00 to walk through Hyperion Wharf, hopefully they'll change their mind on that.
Also Maybe they'll reopen those clubs, hope so.

    P.S.
As we hope Let Hyperion Wharf Rock!!!

  12. The poster who said HW was going to cost $20 was kidding folks. It will be an open island just like it is now. Roving Blog reporter Thommy reports that the Motion & RRBC demolitions are supposed to be completed by March and the new water fountain ampitheater open by this summer.

  13. yes, but just a rumor on those 2 things. Don't want anyone thinking I'm claiming them as fact. they are just what i've heard

  14. Thanks KingBob. I was only kidding about the cost of getting into Hyperion Wharf. But, I am charging only Jeff $5.00 for his wristband that he wants so much. He will be the only person in Hyperion Wharf with a $5.00 wristband. Wear it proudly Jeff. LOL....

  15. I'd gladly pay $5 for my wristband too......if it gained me entry to a reopened Mannequins or 8TRAX!
