PI Update: Island Hopping

Another Saturday Night and I ain't got no money.... - Cat Stevens, sort of. (1974)  No money? There are some free clubs downtown but then I'd have to pay for parking. Parking is free at CityWalk but the entertainment isn't. But then it dawned on me. Free parking AND free entertainment. What better place, then beautiful Pleasure Island! Pictured above is "classical music with a groove" as played by Nova Era, performing last night on Stage Right in the Celebration Plaza Ultra-Lounge.

One of the same two "human statutes" performing outside Soundstage.

Large crowd of on-lookers seated in the Ultra-Lounge and standing by. Laffers Cantina was doing a brisk business selling drinks.

Fresh trash inside club Motion is an indication of a recent event of some sort in there. Full of banquet tables and chairs, there is absolutely no indication that demolition is imminent!

Another look at that new DTD Guidemap.

Finally, 3 pictures of construction status on the PI No.1 Bridge from Marketplace. Construction on the east span has been completed and is open to pedestrians. The truss bridge on the west span has now been removed and they're about to begin construction of its replacement.

  1. Just a couple of observations. On the newly opened span of bridge there is a light pole in the middle. If your going to be moving large demolition equipment accross the bridge why would you put a brand new light pole in the way. Also looked like a new refridgerator sitting on a pallet in Motion. Why when your going to tear the building down. Things not adding up at all. So whats new...lol

  2. Good observations. Regarding the fridge, it looked to me like it was only there on a temporary basis for whatever event took place.

The light pole is not really in the middle; it's on the edge of what used to be the old center span of the bridge and the new east span. But I do agree it is inconsistent with needing lots of bridge width for bringing in wide loads.

  3. It seems to me that they have'nt torn down Motion.
Which means it could be saved.
Hopefully they'll reopen Motion Mannequins and 8Trax.
C-mon people in three months it's going to be 2011.

  4. Riddle me this? If the fridge was there for a past event the shelves would have been installed. The shelves look to be still in the box at the bottom of the fridge along with a smaller box of install hardware. Still doesn't add up to a building that is supposed to come down this month. :)

  5. Can't argue with your logic. As I said in the article, there is no indication in Motion that would lead one to believe it's coming down anytime soon.

  6. It's October if it was supposed to come down they would've started demolition by now.
You never know, maybe they're rethinking about tearing it down.

P.s. Like we said before guys only four more till the new year, so lets get things Rockin!!
