Breaking News: Mannequins Dance Floor Missing!!

According to one of the Disney Security guards that works on the Island, a week or so ago a door was found ajar at Mannequins so a second security officer was called and they went inside together to make sure no one was in there. There wasn't.....but the Mannequins revolving dance floor was gone! The X-frame was still there; the beams that held up the turntable. And the machinery was still there. But the turntable itself; that large round piece made mostly of wood, was not. The guard had no idea where it went or why they would take it out. I wouldn't think that anyone would buy it without everything else too, right? One of my sources speculates that it could be out for refurbishment; such a thing had been done at least once before for refurbishment years ago. I like the optimism.

  2. Uh-oh....that one Anon is gonna be like "I TOLD YOU SO!"

From what I can determine from photos, it looks like the entire floor is four sections (quarters). There are translucent plastic inserts for under floor lighting.
Removing the "quarter panels" of the turntable wouldn't be a ridiculous/impossible feat.

  3. Have heard nothing from anyone who would be involved in this if it did happen. It's either really hush hush, or it's just another rumor. Without photo proof, this is pointless.

  4. Even quartered, there is no time of day @ PI that anyone could get something that big out into the parking lot for loading.

  5. first things first the floor is (was) in 8 peaces! if you can find a pic on the internet and your own PIC. look at it it has 8 clear lines going out for the middle. and this is one peace of 8!
OK Joe where is it then? if it was still IN Mannequins they would have seen it! that floor is way to BIG to hide. would you agree or not?
that would mean that it got taken out with out someone seeing it!
    but that is impossible!

  6. oh and look at the center clear peace and you can see the octagon shape! now look as closely as you can.

  8. Well we know the floor was there back in February when I published those pictures showing it there. And I'm not trying to say someone has stolen it. But it's not there now. If it is indeed made up of 8 sections, it could have been taken out any night. Workers are constantly on the island between 2am and 6am doing various tasks. I'd like to believe the "refurbishment" theory. Or maybe they're just going to fill the gap with concrete and create a new floor for whatever is going in to what used to be Mannequins!

  9. From my understanding, they had to remove the floor to work on some plumbing issues they had with the bathrooms. Supposedly the plumbing for both 8 Trax and Mannequins are connected and the pipes run underneath the dance floor. They had an "overflow" (a bathroom back-up)and it flooded the area under the dance floor. There is an access door that leads underneath, but with the amount of work that needed to be done, it was easier to remove the dance floor. But, where did it go? I'm not sure how much investigating the security guards did andwhy they didn't see any pieces, but wouldn't they have been told to be careful inside as there was no floor on the dance floor?? One bad step and down they would have went.. Sounds like this could be a false story....

  10. PS... By the way, I really like the "refurbishment" theory also!! I HOPE, I HOPE, I HOPE.... That's all we can do, right? :-)

  14. Anon at 10:50am, thanks for the information. The security people were not in there investigating a missing dance floor. A door was found open so they went in only to make sure no one was in there. At that time it was noticed that the floor was gone. It is quite possible that the 8 pieces were stacked somewhere in there and they they were not noticed for what they were. So your story makes sense; and their story makes sense.

  15. there is not just one Anon who believes it's gone! and and has been gone!

  16. Anon 1:25 AM...don't ask me; it's not my rumor.
Go talk to the security guards who claim it was removed.
I'm just saying it would be "possible". Then again, it would be difficult (but not impossible) to take those huge floor sections out without someone noticing it.

  17. BELIEVE ME.. THE FLOOR HAS BEEN GONE FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS. IT IS IN STORAGE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT WANT IT TO WARP WITHOUT A CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT.

  18. ok JOE
my bad I am aiming the 1000 eyes thing at the ones who said it was IMPOSSIBLE to get it out with out it been seen! I should have made that more clear!
and MY BAD for saying you said you heard from the guards!
just "I TOLD YOU SO!" thing is BULLstuff
you assumed that some one would say this! HMMMMM?

  19. For those of you who are new to the fight, click on January and look at the January 31st article. There is a photo taken in late January of the floor...from a distance. It sure looks like the floor was in there then, not removed nearly 2 years ago. There is no gap to fall in to.

  20. Six black SUV's rushed in and quietly, but hastily loaded it for transport to Area 51.

You can blame the cleaning crews for shutting down the floor in past years by sweeping all the confetti to the edges and down into the mechanisms instead of vacuuming it up properly. Happened at least twice.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Aron 6:42 you make jokes now we are going to believe you??? that this is the reason the floor was shut down 2 times?
so now you are telling me that the disney security guards are lying?
wow you only seam to want to believe Bob?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Believe Bob? I am only the reporter. Someone sends me pics in January showing the floor there so I report on the Blog that the floor is still there. Someone I trust from Security tells me the floor is missing, so I report on the Blog that the floor is missing. I don't have a dog in this race. I am only the reporter.

  23. disney security just wear hats to look important..they have no idea what is going on and the pic from jan has been questioned for its creditability over and over

  24. I seem to recall reading that the dancefloor was removed, and to be used as a scale for animals at
Animal kingdom, but it would seem that it was a rumor.
As for this recent article I hope the Dance floor is being repaired, or refurbished, so it'll hopefully be returned to Mannequins soon.
Hopefully Mannequins will reopen as well as 8trax and Motion so we can all "Party & Rock On"!!!

  25. Bob....I understand that security was looking for possibly someone inside the building, but wouldn't the security supervisor had known that the floor was not there? Well, then again, I guess not. Sounds like Disney has poor communication with their security team and DTD management. If I had been one of the guards and walked inside a building to investigate a possible break-in, and I was walking around I realized a piece of the floor was missing and I hadn't been told about it, I would be quite upset. But, then again, I guess it comes with the territory. I guess I'm thinking that there would be a call system. If a door is found opened, I would think that management of some kind would have been called (or Orlando Police Dept.), and the guards would have been forwarned about the floor before entering the building.........

    ReplyDelete
  26. Bob yes I understand what your saying but that has nothing to do with what I said
what I was trying to get him to understand is this: he only wants to listen to you and NOBODY else can be right! and or wants to believe that if he hears what he wants to hear it will reopen!
I am not saying that your wrong you report what you are told and or hear?! the one truth is this PI (the clubs) are and have been closed for 2 years.
Disney has a plan but it will not come true till they do it Disney makes plans and then it gets changed and changed but until they do something we will NOT know!
so for you who think PI will reopen good luck! (if so it will NEVER be the same) and for those who think it's over then it's over!
    good day Ladies and Gentlemen

  27. >I understand that security was looking for possibly someone inside the building, but wouldn't the security supervisor had known that the floor was not there?

Actually, no. Disney Security personnel do NOT have keys to the clubs and know about as much about what is going on with PI then we do.

    >If a door is found opened, I would think that management of some kind would have been called.

I am sure there are different levels of issues and who gets called. From what I was told, in this instance a 2nd security guard was called and they both entered Mannequins together. It is lit inside; it's not dark.

    >He only wants to listen to you and NOBODY else can be right!

I try to be as objective as I can. I report what I hear and the information sources feed me. But as my semi-annual Disclaimer says, everything should be taken as fiction.

Things are bleak on the Island. I hope to publish a rumor update later this week.

  28. Bob, thanks for the info! I didn't realize the club was lit up (or atleast some kind of lights, I was thinking it was completly dark and they were in there with flashlights (LOL)...so, that makes alot more sence. :-) Keep up the great job! I look forward to reading your blog everyday!! Thanks again....!!

  29. HMMMM...

It would be great if it was "Just Missing"
If Only they would just Bring Back the Good Ol Day's! =)

    ReplyDelete
  30. so if it is lit up then they would have seen the floor stacked up? yes the peaces are big you couldn't hide these and why would they hide them no one should be in there!
and like it was said before there is no real proof of when the pic was taken! and also by what I have heard nobody NOBODY has been in there since it has been closed! (ok well who ever took out the floor!)
all this just backs up my claim that the floor was taken out with out our night of thousand of eyes!
and if Disney was going to reopen more would be going on!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anon at 6:04pm, are YOU the same person who had the theory that the pictures showing the floor in the club were actually taken 2 years ago, but with the camera setting showing the date 2 years later, so that in 2010 we could post it and claim the floor was still there?

Not only was that absurd, but that theory was debunked when photos were posted of the Waterfront Stage, with new boards installed and freshly painted, something that happened this year. And those photos had the same photo number sequence and dates as the Mannequins-interior photos, because they were taken the same day/night.

    ReplyDelete
  32. ever heard of photoshop? that would be real easy to do! I could get on my home computer and do this! myself!
again where was your night of thousand of eyes? the floor has to be gone? now? if mannequins IS lit up? I think that they would have seen it and said that they did heck they said the floor was not down where it used to be! so give me your theory on this? please.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't have a theory. Next time I see that security guard I'll simply ask if it was possible that the pieces were stacked there. And I'll report the answer one way or another.

And I don't think you can fake-imbed photo numbers onto photos using Photoshop.

    ReplyDelete
  34. yes you can fake the date! very very very easy all you have to do is input it very little lines in a pic

    ReplyDelete
  35. as usual,, no comment when challenged

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have stated multiple times that your theory that someone 2 years ago took photos of the Mannequins floor, future-dated them by 2 years so that 2 years later they could send those photos to my Blog to fool people 2 years later....is absurd. There is really no further reason to debate your theory with you because it is....absurd.

    ReplyDelete
  37. you started this theory
    I said Photoshop!
I'm not saying that someone went and put the date just for future fake info
I am saying that it got that way on purpose! so they could fake us out years later!
and OH I have never seen the date on the pictures anyway so there is no proof! so this person can say whatever he wants! I am sorry to have said that the pictures had a date on them! so we are going back at each other over something that doesn't exist!
and also the claim that the Mannequins hanging in Mannequins are still there is not true as well I was told they where gone a week after the club was closed by a CM! 2 years ago!

    ReplyDelete
  38. >Also the claim that the Mannequins hanging in Mannequins are still there is not true as well I was told they where gone a week after the club was closed by a CM! 2 years ago!

You obviously are not in the Orlando area otherwise you'd go up to the upstairs door in Mannquins and SEE with your own eyes 2 different mannequins! The ones that were lowered down and had lit-up eyes were removed. All those hanging in the corners are still there!

    ReplyDelete
  39. OK if true that they are in the back area they have been taken down! I was told they where taken out so there is a half truth at least.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The ones on either side of the DJ booth are still there too. I believe reader 71Jason explained that those owned by Entertainment were removed but those owned by PI (which are most of them) are still there.
