PI Update: An Island Holiday

I was daydreaming at work today about heading down to the islands for a holiday. I didn't care which one as long as there were water views, swaying palm trees, lots of sun and a cold drink in my hand as I enjoyed the tropical sounds of steel drums. But then I thought, why spend all that money on airfare when I could just go down instead to beautiful Pleasure Island!

And indeed, I enjoyed my cold drink listening to the steel drums of A Slice of Lime, a new act from Trinidad performing on the Island. My bartender tonight at Laffers Cantina was none other than Erin (8TRAX, Adventurers Club). I told her that if she could remember my drink of choice, I'd buy one from her. And even though it's been 3 years, she remembered!

Decent crowd on hand in Celebration Plaza for a September evening. No crowd on hand at Funmeister Plaza in front of a very lonely club Motion.

Further views above of the water main/sewer construction taking place beside Mannequins, as reported last night by Blog roving reporter Zulemara.

Spotted: Bethany and Bruce from Entertainment. Also, one of the 7 magicians currently employed on the island, working the intersection at The Hub.

  1. SEVEN magicians??? I know I've seen like four, but no idea they had seven.

I think the one pictured is "Glenn," a nice guy who goes out of his way to push drink sales at PI Live. Another guy who's a dead ringer for early 1980s Eddie Murphy does so as well, but neither one seems to make much of a difference. In other words, magicians are far less profitable than even the Adventurers Club.

The amount of $$ TDO has blown in this PI fiasco should give every Disney shareholder fits.

  2. ...and there are fits that money is being thrown at all this entertainment nonsense going on. there is no profit being generated from these entertainment fiascos..but it is shutting up some hirer ups that are seeking a cheap alternative to not spending tons of money to regrand open the pi. this is a bandade fix put in place for a while with a special "additional operating budget adjustment" that was recently approved..the outcome is not favorabe and guest count had not increased..some heads are going to role

  6. Calendar year or fiscal year?

Hopefully it'll be people who made some of the bad decisions, and not just a scapegoat to place blame on.

WDW is all about cheap solutions.

  8. We're still hanging in there that if they tear down the Beach Club and fix up Mannaquins and
    8trax and Motion.
Also try to do something about AC back.
So come on people lets get PI going again.
P.S. It must be costing a lot of money to have those workers on overtime,so light everything up.

  9. All the entertainment on the Island is outsourced. There are a few Disney employees responsible for booking and overseeing them and there are Disney employees in the two bars. And Maintenance. The few restaurants and few shops are outsourced.
