Voyage Has Closed

The downtown nightclub Voyage has closed. And I say good riddance! You see, two years ago after the PI club closures were announced, everyone kept asking me where I was going to go once Mannequins closed. And initially I did not know. But I told everyone that I'd research it. The creation of this Blog partly came out of that search.
I spent one of those few remaining Saturday nights club hopping around downtown Orlando. As I visited each venue, I'd explain what I was doing to the doorman or club manager and without hesitation was allowed entry without having to pay the cover charge. I spoke to the DJ's and learned the music formats for Friday and Saturday nights. Took notes. Everywhere except Voyage. They were the only club who refused to let me in without paying. So I never went back. I can only recall even mentioning them here on the Blog maybe once. And so they finally closed. As I said, good riddance. (In previous lives, the club was known as Blue Room and Red Velvet.)
I am sure they thought you where trying to get in for free and party? and so you didn't ever go in wow didn't get n for free so you bad mouth them? HUM? so to get a good review you have to get in free?
ReplyDeleteI am sure they had no idea who you really are?
You miss the point. I told every club that I was only staying for 5-10 minutes to talk to the DJ. I wasn't staying to party and wasn't asking for free admission. A dozen or so clubs "got it". I never gave Voyage a bad review. But they've gone out of business and I won't miss them.
ReplyDeleteWell, its Voyages tough noodle. Maybe if they let you in KingBob, you may have been able to give it some type of review and they would have more patrons. Their loss anyway........ Hope to see you again, Anonymous..... I am sure you know who this is....
ReplyDeleteThe lease ran out and the owner wanted to focus back on his songwriting with one of his music production partners Mickey Bono.
