It was a rainy holiday weekend in Orlando but the skies have finally cleared and the stars were out tonight. So what better place to spot them then beautiful Pleasure Island.

The Entertainment staff continues to test new concepts. This small band with a male lead singer was quite good and drew crowds. And they were generating drink sales at Laffers. I didn't catch his name but he could be the next Justin Timberlake, so I was told. For me, I just assume stare at the female backup singer in her tight skinny jeans and ankle boots as she was hot!
The human statues were out taking their turns, also drawing crowds. They had a zither player in front of Soundstage. No crowds there though.
Some cleaning equipment? is new to Motion plus another dolley with equipment on it that I couldn't make out. The Mannequins elevator spent the first post-closure year on the 3rd floor and moved down to the 2nd floor last year. When it arrives on the 1st floor, the club will reopen! Or maybe not.
I don't know about the new band, but hopefully they'll still consider reopening the clubs.
ReplyDeleteI also would like some input on this issue on ultra lounges to be put there, what's the plan?
P.S.
So come on Disney light up P.I. so we can PARTY HARDY!!!
Frankie and the West End Boys!
ReplyDeleteinteresting movement in Motion. Hhmmm
ReplyDeleteSo the elevator serves as the countdown clock hmmm?? AND we've got live music back...too bad there wasn't some kind of stage on that end for them to perform
ReplyDeleteAgreed. They really should build some sort of Stage over there on the West End of PI...
ReplyDeleteMaybe they could also open a few clubs which played music, and maybe a comedy club or two, that way EVERYONE would have something to do at PI.
It *looks* like a few Technobeam lighting fixtures on that dolly...I don't recall those being used in Motion...maybe it's just been so long my memory's shot LOL...could mean anything though.
ReplyDeleteso they are either adding or removing light fixtures....great
ReplyDeleteCould possibly be extra equipment brought in temporarily for a rental event.
ReplyDeleteMissed the band, but the other musical acts I've seen were pretty pathetic, and did nothing to drive drink sales (which may or may not have been duly noted by staff).
ReplyDeleteStill seems kind of pathetic to have a live band in friend of empty buildings, tho. At least Celebrate Tonight had a certain kinetic energy.
And here I thought I was the only one who checked on the elevator!
ReplyDeleteSad to see it all closed. I miss everyone at PI! I have lived out west for the last 10 years and heard they closed the island. Great memories that will always be in my heart such as working with my great freind JD Spradlin.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to all
Scott Summers
71, YOU'RE getting nostalgic for Celebrate Tonight? Personally, I never felt any kinetic energy out there.
ReplyDeleteAnon, EVERYONE checks on that elevator!!
Scott, good to hear from you and thanks for writing in. We'll let you know when Mannequins & 8TRAX are reopening. Just don't be holding your breath.
The last of the moving lights being removed from the club.
