Club Reports: Atlantic Dance, Latin Quarter, The Peacock Room

Started the evening off at the beautiful art deco Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney's Boardwalk Resort in Bay Lake, Florida. Decent crowd on hand but definitely not crowded since the facility is so huge. DJ Pete (Motion, 8TRAX) was on duty spinning mostly Top 40. Recognized a handful of former Pleasure Island patrons in the mix.

But I wanted some techno so a quick drive up I-4 brought be to Latin Quarter in CityWalk at the Universal Orlando Resort. DJ Leony (BPM Sirius 36/XM81) was mixing some House in with Latin but the crowd was surprisingly small for a weekend evening. The techno always filled the dance floor though. Leony says he's been invited back to club D'Jais in Belmar, NJ the final weekend of July. He'll be solo on Saturday night and joining DJ Armando (RadioDance.com), the Riddler and other DJ's on Sunday night. The Groove had a long line to get in. But not as long as Thursday night for 80's Night. I'm told the line stretched from TG almost to Red Coconut Club!

But that was not enough techno so it was back onto I-4 and a first ever visit to The Peacock Room in Orlando for DJ Kimball Collins (Aaahz). Kimball confirms that there will be another Aaahz Reunion on Thanksgiving Eve at Tabu Night Club. If you like House & Progressive House then this is an event you must put on your calendar for the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving as he joins DJ Dave Cannalte (Mannequins) for a recreation of their Aaahz night club night in the old Beacham Theater. It was absolutely sick last year! And so it was last night too as they crammed a hundred people into a pretty small room and turned up the heat. Everything was played off discs...no computer. The Mannequins final night chant of "one more song" successfully got us an encore!
