PI Update: Adventurers Club Props at D-Street

Vinylmation/D Street opened in Downtown Disney West Side this past weekend and you know what it's full of? It's full of props from the Adventurers Club. The zebra cabinet is there, the peacock is there, the samurai suit is there. I took pics of anything that looked old; some of you may recognize the stuff. What's interesting is that supposedly all the AC props were being shipped to Hong Kong Disneyland for a new restaurant to open there based on an AC theme. Interesting.
The store is jammed with Vinlymation characters. There are a few t-shirts too but the store is really about Vinlymation. How popular this stuff will be remains to be seen. I know Disney is really trying to push this stuff. Even Disney Pin Traders has a Vinlymation section in it now!
if I cared about the AC on a personal level the way I do about CW, 8trax, and mannequins, I'd be PISSED that this is what they are doing. It's like rubbing it in our faces that it's gone. What's next? A mannequin holding a vinlymation character?
ReplyDeleteYou just gave them a great idea!
ReplyDeleteSomehow that doesn't shock me.. it's like the ghost of PI that won't die. Kinda reminds me of DreamFinder's ship hanging out over at Epcot...
ReplyDeleteAre you sure those are recent pictures? I can't trust that those were recent pics, and dont tell me to look at the time stamp those can be altered. :)
ReplyDeleteDisney doesn't read this blog so don't worry they will not get any ideas from you guys!
ReplyDeleteI was just there this past weekend. The new D-Street shop is actually really nice. I like Vinylmation stuff (but it's too expensive for me) and I think the new store is a great way to showcase it. That being said, I never visited Pleasure Island when it was running, so I can see how this might upset die-hard PI fans.
ReplyDeleteRyan, I agree. Beautifully done shop, notwithstanding that the props all came out of a beloved comedy club.
