PI Update: Demolition Big Duh Moment
One of our Save Pleasure Island roving reporters was out on the Island today to get some daytime shots of the demolition taking place since its difficult to see with the night shots. The demolition was only supposed to take a few days to complete but apparently it is now on hold because they had a Big Duh moment. Allegedly demolition planners forgot to account for those Harley Davidson signs that are connected to the very light bridge towers that they're tearing down! Island sources are saying that management now has to figure out how the Harley Davidson store can keep the signage its entitled to before they can proceed any further! OMG, if this is true, how could something so basic have been overlooked? (No further work has been completed outside Mannequins either.)
"OMG, if this is true, how could something so basic have been overlooked?"
ReplyDeleteYou have to ask this question of the people who cut their nose off despite their face. The fact that they closed PI in the first place means they aren't to bright. Has to rank as one of the worst decisions Disney has made and it just keeps on giving. The people responsible should have been fired and the problem rectified at least until the economy get to a point where they can sign clientele to go in the area.
and just think of all the time and money they are spending they could have keep PI open!
ReplyDeleteDoes not surprise me in the least.
ReplyDeleteBTW- Some Blue ID's were overheard talking about the Mannequins building. Apparently someone is interested in it. Whatever they are doing involves putting a curtain up by the stage.
Yes the dance floor is still there.
interesting. I'd rather they use it than let it sit there empty for all eternity.
ReplyDeleteA few months ago I had heard a rumor about an Italian restaurant going into Mannequins but that there were objections from EPCOT about it impacting the Italian restaurant located there. How do you know the revolving floor is still in there?
ReplyDeleteItalian Restaurant...
ReplyDeletePortobello Trattoria is within spitting distance of MDP. Seems like (yet another) dumb decision if they did that.
Maybe we can get another Rainforest Cafe clone in the space...
How about a restaurant with animated princesses and fairies, and overpriced disgusting hamburgers and fried chicken strips?
yes the floor is still there OK yes where are the pics?
ReplyDeleteThey've got Mannequins more secure than Fort Knox!
ReplyDeleteSorry, no pics. Access to the building is VERY hard to come by. However, I have direct contact with some that have access. I can assure you it's still there.
ReplyDeleteNo word on what/who/etc is looking at the building. I suspect that if anyone wanted to call up Disney and make an offer on the space you could (and if anyone reading this has that kind of cash, you freaking should do it!)
Thanks for the update.
ReplyDeleteWhat number do we call to make an offer? I can't afford Mannequins but I think I can afford to reopen 8TRAX.
I don't care who you know. about Mannequins dance floor it'slike others have said no pics no floor! i have read others say they have seen the floor! some have said it a storage place others say the floor is soaked! so is one more "person" saying that the floor is still there more bull! well until I (we) can see the pics tell the person to show us! "show me the pics" I would love to know the truth about the floor one way or the other. see I have heard that the floor is gone from someone who has worked @ PI for a LONG time! they heard this frm Disney higher ups! so someone is not turthful. we all know that PI is gone
ReplyDeleteSources tell me the floor is still there. I have no proof and no pics. I did a google search of REVOLVING DANCE FLOORS and could not find one in Massachusetts. Surely if some club up there had the floor from Mannequins, they'd advertise that fact as we all agree it's a draw. So I don't know what the truth is but I lean to the version that it's still there.
