PI Rumors Continue

Photo Contributed by Reader

Internet rumors continue about Motion coming down in order to create a direct pathway from DTD Marketplace to DTD West Side. Rumors continue that all the artifacts in Adventurers Club will get shipped in October to Hong Kong Disneyland, shortly after the September 26th (sold out) Kungaloosh Party. Rumors continue about Harley Davidson vacating its place in the Mannequins building and moving to the closed Starabilias location. Another person reports actually being inside Mannequins recently and the dance floor was still there although everything else has been gutted. I recently peered in the stairwell windows at 8TRAX and nothing has changed inside there. It's likely the lights and electronic systems are gone but other than some cleanup, it looks like it could reopen as a disco this evening!

  2. people..seriously, the damn floor is still there. I can't believe so many people believe that they could remove the floor and keep the rest of the place in tact. I have talked to maintenance, security, and manager. The floor is there, there are still mannequins in there, and a whole bunch of other stuff. It's being used as storage right now.

  5. Yup, 8TRAX is still there, purple/pink railings and all! A lot of the things in there date back to when 8TRAX was "The Cage".

  7. KB- I remember it being called the Cage but I don't remember what type of music was played. Can you refresh?

  8. When PI opened the venue was called Videopolis East and new wave music was played on hundreds of video monitors. I'm not certain but it may have been a teen club.

About a year later it was renamed Cage and I believe they played progressive music. My recollection is that the dance floor was kind of caged-in with chain link fencing.

It was rethemed to 8TRAX around 1993 playing 70's disco music and later 80's music was added.

  9. KB- Do you consider new wave and 80's music the same? New wave is one of my favorite genres of music. I love me some Smiths, The Cure, Adam Ant, New Order, Tears for Fears (early years), Missing Persons, XTC, Love and Rockets and so on.
I consider 80's music to be Phil Collins, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Michael.

  10. No, to me 80's is a different genre than New Wave (also now called Old Wave by some). 80's Music can include New Wave from the 80's though just as it can include late disco, early techno, soul and other styles from then. Most clubs that are advertising 80's music often feature the music that was played during the beginning years of MTV which was the Top 40 of that time period.

  11. Is there anywhere within the continental United States that I can get an 8Trax type expierience? I've tried Las Vegas to no avail and with all the Polly Esther's (80's themed chain of clubs) closed down, there doesn't seem to be any more outlets. Please help KB!

  12. Navy guy, I'm not familiar with the entire USA! I've got to say that 80's Night at The Groove sounds a lot like being inside 8TRAX and if management approves the addition of some late 70's Disco music, it would sound EXACTLY like 8TRAX...including the 8TRAX DJ Doc!!
