Latest internet information (rumor) out there is that Motion and Rock'n'roll Beach Club are both going to be demolished, possibly as soon as next month. The RRBC site will allegedly be replaced with a structure that looks like a lighthouse (hey, that's original!) and will contain a fast food burger restaurant and a bar in the base. Most of the rest of the RRBC space will be outdoor lakefront seating for the new venues. The former PI Live booth atop the Fuego cigar bar will also be coming down although Fuego itself would remain.
you forgot the last part..
ReplyDeleteSorry Zulemara, no word on Mannequins/8-Traxx.
:sigh:
Yes, still no information about what's to happen to the Mannequins/8TRAX building.
ReplyDeleteBut I must pay compliments to the Disney Imagineers. They really outdid themselves this time coming up with a restaurant that looks like a lighthouse. Brilliance at work.
And to think we're only losing 2 nightclubs to get this!
This whole Pleasure Island closure debacle just really pisses me off... the inept Disney management could have made it profitable, but they just kept screwing it up worse.
ReplyDeleteAnyway...look how long RRBC has been closed (Feb 08), and they still haven't done anything with that space. But, then again, look at the MK Skyway stations which have been closed and rotting away for years. Or Epcot Wonders of Life... The list could go on.
Stupid Disney.
You're right Joe. We all remember that PI clubs closed last September however RRBC closed much earlier. It has sat there unused much longer.
ReplyDeleteThere just doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the what they are doing with PI. Where is a the grand plan?
ReplyDeleteActually, Mannequins /8trax building will be staying. The lighthouse actualy goes behind the Motion building, Motion and RRBC come down around May 2010.. As well as Ad Club and BET.
ReplyDeleteBut why does the Mannequins/8TRAX building stay? Any idea what it's going to be used for?
ReplyDeleteou! Please do tell! What on earth are they going to do with that building?
ReplyDeleteAnd Comedy Warehouse. No one seems to care about that one.
ReplyDelete:)
It's a bold new vision for Pleasure Island. Nothing.
I'd like to personally thank those responsible for the utter joke the PI section of DTD has turned into. What once was a fun area to visit, is now just another empty area to be filled soon by restaurants and merchandise I can get elsewhere. DTD execs and WDI (you know who you are)...bravo! (Not)
ReplyDeleteThe lighthouse bar & grille is part of Disney's BOLD NEW VISION for Pleasure Island. This is a step forward for safety too because if this is a lighthouse then presumably there's going to be a light beacon too to keep boats from crashing into the island on foggy nights. But don't get your hopes up too much as this is just a rumor.
ReplyDeleteI heard the Lighthouse will not have a beacon, as it seems families with small children don't like bright lights.
ReplyDeleteThat explains why they're mostly staying away from "Celebrate Tonight"!
ReplyDeleteHey now! I am 100% worried & concerned about the fate of the Comedy Warehouse as its still my favorite club & there isn't any reason why they couldn't reopen it tonight if it were possible. Honestly deco can be replaced, most of the cast & the subs are still on property so it could happen. I just wish it would, bring it back! Bring back my Comedy Warehouse!
ReplyDeleteIf you peek in the side doors of the CW building you'll see the place is being used as "junk" storage. Sure they could reopen it and I see absolutely no conflict between Comedy shows and Family entertainment.
ReplyDeleteTypically, the CW cast kept the show "family friendly" (except maybe the midnight show which was a little racier, but still "Disney appropriate".
