Tunnels Of Florida

It probably wouldn't surprise you to learn that Florida does not have any mountain tunnels. But did you know that Florida has only 4 under water tunnels?  The newest tunnel is in downtown Miami and is called the Port Miami Tunnel. Carrying new highway SR 887, it connects I-395 with Dodge Island which is the home of Port Miami.
Just to the north in downtown Fort Lauderdale is the New River Tunnel.  It carries US 1 beneath the New River.
So where are the other two road tunnels? Why, they're right here at Walt Disney World!
The longer of the two is actually a twin tunnel system. This tunnel carries EPCOT Resorts Blvd under the canal that runs between Disney's Boardwalk area and EPCOT.  Directly beside it is a mirror image tunnel for EPCOT cast members on a loop road behind World Showcase pavilions. The 4th tunnel is not pictured here and is the shortest tunnel in Florida.  It carries World Drive beneath the waterway that connects the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake, near Magic Kingdom.
Four tunnels in Florida and two of them are right here!  Who knew?
