DS Update: NBA Experience

As you know, the NBA Experience is coming to Disney Springs West Side. It will be located in the spot where the massive DisneyQuest building used to stand.
The sign says it's opening in Summer, 2019 which means more than a year from now. So far there has been a lot of site work on the grounds but we've yet to see anything go vertical. We'll be following its progress here on the Blog.

Was NBA City successful ay City Walk? I'm asking because they had a massive presence at CW and it closed. Now they will have a massive presence at DS. I would have thought with the younger crowds at CW it would have been successful. Now they are trying the family friendly DS. Doesn't make sense. But then again, there were a lot of changes at DS that doesn't make sense.

The NBA Experience has been vertical for at least a week now.

How recent are these pictures? There’s tons of vertical construction going on

Anon at 9:20AM, the problem at NBA City in CityWalk was that you can't go to CityWalk during the day without paying to park and in the evening, only Floridians could park free after 6PM. So that excluded so many possible customers. Also, I don't recall any interaction with the Orlando Magic or other NBA players. I expect the NBA Experience at Disney Springs will have a much-greater interaction with the NBA. And of course, parking at Disney Springs is always free.

Anon at 10:!5AM, thanks for the update!

KingBob, you stated "parking at Disney Springs is always free". But with the new parking fees at the Disney hotels, do you think we will ever see a day where parking at the Springs isn't free anymore?

Anon at 3:38AM, I think some restaurants validated Valet Parking which was something paid when you departed. Regular parking is paid when you enter the garage so a restaurant would have had to pay cash back to you to refund what you already paid. I don't recall anyone doing that.

Anon at 9:22AM, I think charging for parking at Disney Springs would be a disaster to the entire complex. They are competing with shopping malls that don't charge for parking. They are competing with International Drive restaurants that don't charge for parking. While nothing surprises me anymore with Disney, I would be surprised if they went to that model.
