PI Update: Repeating The Elevator Rumor

Those of you familiar with Mannequins will remember their elevator which opened to the outside on the 1st floor and then would whisk clubbers up to the 2nd floor entrance and even occasionally to the 3rd floor rafters. After MDP closed in 2008, you will recall that the elevator would stay parked on the 3rd floor.
In 2010 the "lift" made it to the 2nd floor, beginning the oft-repeated rumor that when the elevator made it to the 1st floor, Mannequins would reopen!
In 2013 the elevator floor indicator light was turned-off completely! An bad omen indeed, Mannequins would never reopen.
Morimoto Asia has a brand new elevator operating in the very same elevator shaft as the Mannequins elevator did and this elevator does go down to the 1st floor. Sadly, when these doors open, there is no revolving dance floor in sight!

Club Reports: Stargazers Bar, Planet Hollywood Observatory, STK, Waterview Stage, Waterside Stage

With all the entertainment taking place in Disney Springs on weekend nights, who needs clubs? Coming out of the Lime Garage and running right away into The Strolling Piano!
This remote controlled piano platform glides through the Town Center as the singer belts out Disney songs such as "Let It Go".  Come on, you can't get stuff like this downtown!
The new multi-level Stargazers Bar is now open.
This lounge act on the ground floor was playing Top 40 hits.
Planet Hollywood Observatory is back to having DJ's!
DJ Jazzy Jeff was on the decks playing Top 40.
Of course this is a dining crowd, not a dancing crowd.
With extensive renovations mostly complete, the place is really unrecognizable from predecessor Planet Hollywood.
Two nights in a row visiting STK. The smell of grilling steaks always draws me in!
DJ Luis playing 70's Disco during my visit.  Of course we know Luis from Atlantic Dance Hall.
"Operator, we have a problem. Everyone sitting, no one dancing!"
At the Waterview Stage, Rap Group Freedaps was running a dance contest mixed with their amazing improv humor.  For example, when he noticed that two girls in the contest were coincidentally named Amber, he quickly made an "Amber Alert" joke.
Check this link here for an example of one of their quick-thinking Rap shows!
Over at the Waterside Stage, the Andre Caram Band was playing Top 40 hits!
Featuring charismatic Dance singer Drey-C.
We've been following them since they began performing on Pleasure Island's West End Plaza!
At Disney Springs this weekend, a good time was had by all!

Club Reports: STK, Red Coconut Club, Gilt Nightclub

Saturday night in the city. Began the evening at STK, Disney Springs.
DJ Jay-R (USA) in the booth playing.....Latin. The music volume here is turned way down compared to when the venue opened but its the only place with a DJ anymore on the Island.
"Operator, we have a problem. Everyone sitting, no one dancing!"
Next stop Red Coconut Club, Universal CityWalk.
For DJ Leony (USA).
Everyone dancing, no one sitting!
Club absolutely packed around midnight!
Delivering EDM to the masses below!
You can never go wrong with Go Go girls!
Party going on in VIP!
DJ Leony would alternate with the Herb Williams Band.
And the dance floor would stay jammed!
Next stop Gilt Nightclub.
DJ K1KO & DJ ATM taking turns in the opening set!
Shit though, it was all Dubstep!
Club was packed to the rafters!
Waiting for this guy.....DJ A-trak (CDN).
Plugging-in and getting started at 1:15AM.
And continuing where ATM left off.....more Dubstep!
Not what I expected from Alain Macklovitch aka A-trak.
But he was playing to the crowd and they loved it.
Finally 30 minutes in, he thankfully switched it over to EDM.
Spotted in VIP: DJ Scotty B
Spotted in VIP: DJ Freefall with Mrs. Freefall.
Spotted in VIP: DJ Rincon
Also spotted in VIP: DJ Ish
After 30 minutes of Dubstep and 30 minutes of EDM, Montreal-based A-trak would go into a final 30 minutes of Trap & Hip Hop. WTF?
Apparently I was the only one not getting in to this.
Although you can never go wrong with Go Go girls!
I mostly know A-trak for his 2010 collaboration with DJ Armand van Helden (USA) as DJ duo Duck Sauce which gave us wacky hits such as "Big Bad Wolf".
But whatever. A good time was had by all. (Except me.)
