Club Report: Simons (Gainesville)

Brightly lit with an entrance directly on Main Street in downtown Gainesville, Simons is a far cry from the underground institution it used to be in the 90's when the unmarked entrance was in an alley at the rear, it was dark inside and up-and-coming DJ's such as Deep Dish, Carl Cox, Felix da Housecat, Richie Hawtin, Icey, Josh Wink, Sasha & Digweed played here.
When I lived in Gainesville during the 90's, the music at Simons was Breaks, Trance and House. The music now is EDM, Trap and Hip Hop.
The music back then was mixed off records.  The music now comes from laptops.

When Miami and Orlando governments banned all-night raves, it took longer for the Gainesville City Council to catch-on so Florida's scene definitely shifted to Gainesville for awhile.
But whether it was then or now, one thing about Simons remains true. A good time was had by all!

Looks like you were in my neck of the woods last night. Never been to Simon's, but I pass by it often!
